During the last week I've noticed something and have this to say...God help the person who causes and accident while I'm driving my PSD who is talking on there stupid cell phone! I've seen about five near misses and each one of them was caused by a person on a cell phone. I'm not going to mention the gender of the persons involved but am sure you guys can figure that out.

I am against the government getting inside my vehicle telling me what I can and can't do, such as seat belts, airbags and smoking (oh yes, banning smoking in cars has been brought to the table) because that is all about personal safety and its your choice based on how you value your own life. But when it comes to the safety of others, including myself driving my fabulous Ford truck, use of cell phones without a hands free device should be against the law with large penalties not to be limited to loss of driving privileges for repeat offenders. There is nothing important enough to talk about that would require you to drive while talking. Too many people don't use the "pull over and talk" option. I'm nearing the use of profanity so I'm going to stop now. Sorry for the rant.

I will admit I talk on my cell while driving if it is a work related emergency. I do try to pull over if possible. Keith

Nah--Bluetooth headsets (provided one doesn't walk around with it on everywhere) are the greatest invention since pop-top beer cans. Individually wrapped cheese slices, while very convenient, aren't even in the same league as easy-to-open beer.;) :D :roflmao :roflmao :roflmao :roflmao

I hate getting behind some soccer mom doin 40 mph in the left and she's in her on little world.

completely oblivious to the outside world.

when i take the kids to school in the moring, its around 7:25 am when we start to hit traffic. almost 75% of the moms are on their cell phones.

who in the world are they talking to at 7:30 in the morning?!

I talk on the phone while driving as well, but I try to use my wireless headset, or I just make sure that driving is the #1 priority. That means telling who ever I'm talking to to hold on a minute if traffic starts to get busy, or I have a lot of shifting to do (although I do often hold the wheel with my elbow while I shift with the same hand and hold the phone with the other) Not to mention my laptop mounted next to me with GPS and cellular internet

OMG, do I hear ya there!!

But picture this:

Soccer mom parked in the left lane going at least 10mph slower than anyone passing her in the right lane. Cell phone in the left hand, so she never signals a single lane change or turn, all the time with a cigarette in the right hand!! How's she going to drive when she has to take a drag off that cig??

Some people should not be allowed to procreate.

It is not about the phone it is about the moron using it. If the nitwits were not on the phone they would be doing the makeup or something else. I use the phone all of the time in the car just for something to do and I have averted many possible accidents that would have been caused by some other moron. The dialing part is a bit dangerous, I only allow myself one digit between looking at the road and try to do it at stoplights or the like.
