mounting options include:

the drivers A-Pillar
over the rear view mirror
or Under the dash.

your guage choices are staggering & confusing...
dipricol, isspro, & autometer are three that come to immediate
mind (and both have different faces & styles...autometer
must make 2 dozen different styles or more).

you can diy the guages OR buy 'em completely mounted
in the mount, already wired and ready to install/hook up.

a few of the good "online retailers" (that ive personally used
& in NO particular order) are:

DPPI
DieselSite
ITP Diesel
Diesel Innovations

when you install your EGT do yourself the favor and install it in the exhaust
manifold...its mentally tough to drill holes in a brand new truck
but the egt measurement is more accurate in the manifold and is
the most accurate reference point.

other sources (but not DIESEL forum sponsors...which support
and pay for this FREE forum/site btw)...

Summit Racing
Jegs

also consider adding a coolant filter (it will extend the life of your water pump
and collect all the sand left behind from the casting...itll clear up your
overflow bottle in a matter of a day, making it easier to see the coolant level)
order yourself a couple of extra filters...the 1st two plug up from sand/castings
pretty quickly.

So how about drilling a hole in the manifold? I've got the latest issue of Diesel Power and it shows a good spot to drill a hole in the manifold. Forgot what engine it was for. Anyway, about that, do I need to remove the manifold? There will be metal flakes in there when I'm done. I don't think the turbo would appreciate that very much. I'm also going to have to drill another later on for the edge tuner but I think that one is supposed to go somwhere after the manifold. Any input?

I didnt remove the manifold...its not necessary...
i put my probe on the drivers side exhaust manifold
near the rear/firewall...i drilled a hole & tap'd it near
the elbow/turn in the manifold.

you can use a vac. to suck out any cuttings from
drilling & tapping...but for the most part if you go slow
most cuttings should be on the OUTSIDE.

go slow, take your time...drill a little then stop and clean
the bit (do the same w/ the tap).

im not qualified to talk abou the edge tuner....im sure someone
will chime in about that.

Great info in this thread, i would just like to add some info...

If you add some grease (wheel bearing/ chassis/ petrolium jelly - doesnt matter) to the drill bit and or tap it will collect most, if not all, the shavings.

be careful w/ the petrol-ium jelly...cause just like it sounds...its HIGHLY
flamable.

it should go w/out saying (but well worth repeating) that you should
always use grease when taping something.

Are you going to add a programmer/power box of some sort? Some of the electronic gauges will not work with some programers/power box's.

Not really sure what you mean there but the plan is to install the guages now and in a few months install the edge juice platinum stuff. I'm going to wire them up independent of each other. So that means I'm going to be drilling holes in the exhaust two times. I might wait until I get the MBRP 4" exhaust before I do any drilling. Might try to knock out all of this in one job...who knows. Got alot of underway time soon so I'll just have to see. I'll have to leave my poor truck alone for a month. Hope it doesn't get lonely! (and crapped on by birds)

HUH ???? 1st ive heard of anything like this...id love to hear more of
where you heard or EXPERIANCED such...

when you consider the guages being discussed are COMPLETELY
mechanical i work COMPLETELY independant of anything <period>
its EXTREAMLY unlikely they would interfere w/ ANYTHING about
any truck <or aftermarket computer>
