Ok, it probably isnt possible but, can any of you mechanical geniuses come up with some sort of AC mod override capability? I like the concept of the mod and it would be exceptionally useful in my climate. However, I do not like the "all or nothing" characteristic.

I would like to see some sort of on/off switch I could use while driving to bypass the mod or select it.

Anyone wanna take a stab at it?

I am reaching here but did you do the mod to close off the hot water through the blower plenum in a/c mode?
if you did try to use the vacum source that just pulls the door closed for recirculate, and then use that feed to close off the heater hose, that way you get artic air in recert. to chill the cab then switch over to normal to get fresh air after the cab is cold, and temp adjustment
thats what i did in my 02, for the same reason, full cold all the time got rough, I could hang chickens in the cab,

hutch made a neat system using micro switches, but i cant get into that place to search

I havent done anything yet. I didnt want to do it without some sort of ability to turn it off regardless of what setting Im on. I have been wondering if there isnt some way to hook up a switch that will open or close the bypass. I would like a dash switch that would let me activate/turn off the mod regardless of whether my ac is on or just vent (max air or norm).

if you figure this out call me ;)
ive been wanting to control the re-circ (aka max a/c) / fresh air door
for some time now...

interestingly enough our A/C compressor runs when its in bi-level
mode (dash & floor)...id like to be able to close the fresh air door
in this mode (too)...not just when its on MAX A/C

All I know is that the mod works on application of vacuum to switch the flow on the crossover you install between the two water lines. Somehow we need to be able to apply/release vacuum at will without air controller interaction.

you can get an electrically operated vacum valve and install a simple on off switch to turn it , well on or off
that would be the most primitive setup, then maybe a future upgrade would be an automatic type based on relative humidity or temp, but i am thinking again so I wil shut up , that would make it completely seperate from the vacum system for the a/c. just tee off the main vac line and add a valve.
i will look at my factory setup , and how it is tripped by my automatic a/c system
might be as easy as a few parts already available.

that sounds like exactly what I was thinking but since I know virtually nothing about these things I was not sure such a vacuum part existed. With an electric switch you could put an LED on the dash to indicate when the bypass was activated.

THanks Robert!

I believe I have found the perfect part and it is only $22.50.

Click here. This is mountable under the dash and instead of cutting and t'ing into the air system line, you run a vac line from this part to the water valve. Then you just connect a switch to this part so you can mount it on the dash and shut off the water flow at will. This makes it completely independent of your a/c selector and allows it to run, or not, regardless of what setting you choose. I plan to use a lighted dash switch so I know if it is on without having to take a close look.

Thanks Robert for your searching help. Next pay period I will try this out.
