did a search on turbo lag, but didn't really find an answer to my problem.
I was in san antonio this last week.( just got back tonight) leaving our motel. traffic was really heavey by the base. I didn't have alot of room, but I thought I could make it, put my foot down, and nothing happend, I'm glad the other people had good brakes, because the truck just didn't move for like 3 to 5 seconds, scared the crap out of me and pissed me off at the same time. I really have no clue how to help this problem, and I have never had a truck that fell on it's face like this before. problem happened twice. To me, an 06 truck, for the price I paid, should never fall flat on it's face like it did. Any help, and what the hell happened.

funny thing is its not the trucks fault. it will go
the fault lies in the way the programers chose to deal with the EPA requiremnts of no soot or smoke ( very low amounts) when you press the go pedal,
until the turbo has a chance to spin some and start moving air
you could power brake some 800-1000 rpm at stops it does help some, but also is hard on things

a tuner with the right programing can fix 80% of it and that will make a ton of differnce.

good to hear you didnt get rear ended

Woofer,

I had something similar happen to me just this past weekend, left turn across path and the guy coming the other way was on a Harley. I had lots of room but it took forever to get up and go. When it finally went it REALLY went, blazing tires and lots of squealing. Funny thing is I knew about the turbo lag but haven't really gotten used to it yet since I've only had the truck about 2 weeks.

I should have known better given I spent the better part of my cretinous youth in the military and SOP has you always spooling up the engines in anticipation of a missed approach. Turbine lag would put you "red on red" for VASI if you didn't have your stuff together.

All I could think was “oh s*it” is this thing ever going to move.

its called PLANNING & COMMITMENT !
no tuner or mod is gonna reduce the lag...well maybe you
could add another turbo sequentially but youll STILL
have some lag.

not 100% with the 6.0s but with my truck if i bury the pedal itll move slower then if i give it 1/2 throttle then quickly push harder.a couple people ive talked to have said the same thing you gotta ease into the pedal if ya want her to move.

It's just b u l l s h i t no other way to say it. sorry... EPA can kiss my a s s !!

7.3's weren't this dead out of the hole. I know that some amount of lag is always going to be there it's inherent in the design, but this is ridiculous. Just facinates me that my old 86 6.9 with no turbo and only 175 hp would run rings around a 325 HP machine for the first 50 feet. I really feel bad for the manual guys, it's got to be a real POS off the line on a hill with a load.

Programmer will be in my future. I'm so sick of bunny huggers and feel good politcal correctness I could puke.

You hit it right on the head! I have found that you either do a small power brake prior to launch or give it an initial small amount of throttle then floor it for a good launch. If I floor it from a dead pedal it will take forever to get moving. :burnit
