You hit it right on the head! I have found that you either do a small power brake prior to launch or give it an initial small amount of throttle then floor it for a good launch. If I floor it from a dead pedal it will take forever to get moving.

I learned this the hard way when I first got mine as well. I was also lucky the oncoming folks were paying attention!! But, when it hit!!!
Scared the crap out of me having 4 tires spinning while the truck was getting sideways, but I learned.

I find the same thing, if I give it a little foot, then mash it down it does go pretty good, but when it just died, it scared the crap out of me. I'm gonna talk to some diesel guys around here, maybe I can find out what they do about this, I will have to update you guys if I find anything out.
