Yesterday on my way to work i noticed i was at 1/4 tank of fuel, and an estimated 102 miles to empty, a quick mind check, 30 miles to work and 30 back i should be good but....not thinking about the side trips to the dealer, and the dentist. But ..........
This one I can safely place the blame on CHPMUSTANG.:D
through his advice and a rental car, I got me a XM radio, now i am hooked and it never gets turned off, mostly the laugh channels. So as i am tooling around town, totally oblivious to the little sounds the truck makes, right before you run out of fuel, i cant even see the fuel gauge most times from the way i sit (tall)and i knew i had 1/4 tank so not to worry, and the new instrument cluster gives you green words in the odometer screen, like "water in fuel", "10 miles to empty" usually followed by DING DING and a yellow gas pump looking thingy, but for some reason i never got a fuel pump icon, so i am cruisn at about 65 mph just laughing and having a good ol time, then i notice .... HEY what are them lights, why is the steering stiff, OH Crap I am out of fuel. so i freak, change lanes and coast a few hundred feet into the fuel station.
$70. dollars later we got fuel. just a little over 32 gallons to the neck,
must have been pretty low...
so even old seasoned folks screw up.......
but now i am curious as to why no fuel pump icon, it just plain shut off.
any body else have this happen? did the new reflash also include a "let me shut off" line of code?

I ran mine down to just under 1/4 tank this weekend before I stopped for fuel.

It took 28.75 gals in a 29 gal tank.........

I never got a light or anything. :dunno

Normally I don't let my get below a 1/2 tank as indicated on the gauge.

Either your fuel gauge is inaccurate or the fuel meter at the filling station is not calibrated. Most likely your fuel gauge, though. :dunno

Don't most have a "reserve-like" of about 3 gallons that can not be measured since it is so low in the tank ?

My Ex's 44 gallon tank has been filled up with 40+ gallons more than a few times :)

I let mine run down to the "I'm scared" point, just to see how far I can go. That way I know next time I run low on fuel in the middle of nowhere.:sweet I dont get a "yellow fuel thingy", mine just dings and says "low fuel" on my mpg/hour/odom screen. But then again, maybe I have never gotten THAT low on fuel!!:dunno

my 06 has te 38 gallon tank. I put 36 in it once, that was a painful exerience. But no lights and no ding. I'm half afraid to run it dry though. Our old 86 6.9 was a real bear to fire if you ran it dry...

How long did it take to reprime the engine?

re-prime took just one key on trick.
burped a second or two once she started, but after that ran fine.
more funny than anything, I usually never let her get that low,
