Alrighty guys, I am shopping for a truck and I have found these two:

1997 F-250, 7.3L, 4x4, SuperCab, LWB, 115,000 miles

1999 F-250, 7.3L, 4x4, SuperCab, LWB, 131,000 miles

Both are in GREAT Shape!

Which one would you pick and why?
or
Which one would you avoid and why?

Thanks

If prices are close than the decision could be really tough. I would go with the newer one, because it is 2 years newer and the newer body style. The 97 is a great truck, I have a 97 250, but it is a gasser.

Cant go wrong with either one, find out if the 99 is an early 99 or a late 99, there were differences in them.

New one....I really like the dark green!!;)

But, you can't go wrong either way. They are both great trucks.

Both are nice trucks. For me, it would be the 99.

The Ex. Cab doors open both sides on the 99, easier access. The 99 also has dual front air bags (safety first for me). Larger mirrors, better for towing. I don't know how the ride is in the 97, but in my 99 it is smooth. My father in law had a 97 F350 that was a killer to ride in due to stiffness.

These are just my thoughts.

They both have pretty much the same powertrain so it's not like ones better than other. I'd go for the 99 because of the newer look but they are both great trucks. The dark green is really sharp!

The '97 is an XLT, $14900
The '99 is a Lariat, $16900

The 99 is prices closer to the average retail of 16150

The 97 is a bit farther away from it's AR of 13925

I would be torn, as it seems you are: If I planned on keeping it for a long time I would go with the newer one, 16K on miles is not that much of a difference so you get pretty much the same motor but more truck and gadgets with it.

If this is more of a temporary thing while you work on a getting a newer one (6.4 Maybe:sly ) I would go for the older one and not pay that price if I could avoid it. I would shoot for 12.5-13K on the 97 but it wouldn't be a deal breaker if I didn't get it.

Although I have a 03 s-cab I'm not real crazy about the body strength, the wide span if the door opening seems to have way too much flex in it. Especially when towing, there are all kinds of rattles between the doors. If I was towing a lot I would go for the 97 w/o the rear door

Any history on them? What's the condition of brakes, tires, shocks, ball joints???? If any need replacing take the cost off your offer.

Good luck. :D

I'm clueless this is a hard choice even spending your money! I could talk myself into either one#$#%$^
