OK, let me take a stab.

I'd take the 99.

1: Superduties have intercoolers from the factory and put out more power because of it.

2: If it's a 99.5, it'll have a bigger HPOP, injectors & turbo meaning it'll put out even slighlty more power.

3: Assuming they are both automatics, a 4R100 is a stronger stock tranny than a stock EO4D (I think that's what they called it) But anyway, Brian at BTS told me they were both about the same, but the 4R100 had stronger guts in them. BTS can make either virtually bulletproof.

4: Better towing mirrors. Can be upgraded to heated, lighted, signal towing mirrors.


Yea, you might be grasping for straws here, but at least they are valid reasons albeit rather minor ones.

Yeh i would say the 99. i have owned both a 97 and a 99, and the 99 had more power, got better fuel mileage. and yes u can upgrade the mirrors on it! so its a no brainer to me. and yes the E40D is not the best trans for towing either, they over heat alot easier than the 4R100. yeh and of course they one you like the best. go with what you like.

Well, to little to late......I have waited too long as both trucks sold on tuesday...

That means the search continues. Thank you for your replies, I think I will search for a 99 or newer now.
