Hey,

This is my first post of many im sure on these forums. Im the proud new owner of an 04 6L Diesel. I have read up quiet a bit about the issues that ford has had but im still confident that this should be a good truck. How many with these trucks have had trouble free or virtually trouble free trucks? This has 80,000 KM on it and ive request an oasis report as part of the purchase so I can see exactly what has been done. Is there anything that I should have done when I get it as far as the service bulletins are concerned? Any comments/tips appreciated.

Cheers
Jeff

"recall" performed (under warranty)...i did not have a tranny failure.

and ive had ONE egr replaced under warranty...my single biggest
problem has been keeping fuel in the thing <cause we drive it> !

52,000 miles on my '04 and no problems...drive the pee out of it!:burnit Had one recall done under warranty, and had one fuel leak to fix. The fuel leak was a bad "O" ring on the filter cap. I think you'll love your truck.

:welcome2 to the site!!

Hey,

Thanks for the input. I got the truck yesterday and I can say its awsome! The oasis came back with very little warranty work with some basic maintenance and a few "driveability" concerns. Whatever that means. I look forward to driving it alot more!

Cheers

Hey,

Thanks bushpilot. Got another question for you. I realized yesterday after I got home the idiot at the dealer forgot the oil filler cap. I don't have another vehicle to drive at the moment so should I cover it with something until I can get a replacement? Any recommendations on what? Maybe a piece of plastic elastic-ed on? Ive never really had this issue before lol.

Thanks
Jeff

id try and cap that thing some how...after i checked the oil level...
i dont know how much blow by/pressure youll have coming outta the
fill tube/cap...hopefully not much...check the hood etc too.

and you now have ANOTHER reason to change your own oil <besides
the fact that its cheaper>...and youll KNOW youve gotten the
right amount 13.5-14qt back in the engine.

Just hit 75k trouble free miles!!!!!

This is my first diesel and I freaking LOVE this truck!!! I have always been a Ford fan, but now my blood runs diesel!!!! :thumbs

From what I have seen, read and heard, basic maintenance is key, drive it like it was meant to be used, and it will treat you right.
