My dads 04 6.0 torqshift (63,000 miles) F-350 DRW FX4--off and on, always when truck is started and pulls off with load, truck doesnt seem to shift right. When it goes to shift, he gets a sound like a what a window box fan sounds like when it rubs against its cage. Sounds like it is coming from engine compartment. Always at low speeds, and when this happens truck has no power. If he stops and shuts truck off and restarts, it will then work fine. Very intermittent--happens warms or cold, but always after it has been shut off and he restarts up--under load.
This truck does have a history--rebuilt tranny 5,000 miles, head gaskets at 50,000, turbo hose was blowing off, but know fixed, vibration in driveshaft underload, that dealer says is due to angle of driveshaft underload.
Any advice on this shifting thing--sounds to me like a computer thing that resets after restart. Did also put new wireing harness in system--but didn't ever replace computer.
