6.0 L starting?

Why is it that the 6.0L take son long to start? They crank at least 2 to 3 times longer than my 97 7.3 takes. I have even noticed some of the 99-03 7.3 taking longer. What the deal with this?

hpop pressure build up,
ecm/pcm parameters get met
sure is differnt from the old idi 7.3s :D
yadda yadda yadda
mine takes a bit longer if she sits for a week

Mine is not a idi, its the last of the di 7.3 PSD before the intercooler. I guess the HPOP would make since with the later 7.3s having them and then the 6.0l as well.

Many of the newer diesels are this way due to the electronic injection, etc.
Like Robert said, parameters need to be met before it will FIRE.
Besides, I like to listen to my starter, too :roflmao

geuss i should have been a bit more clear
my 1992 idi 7.3 started right up smoke and all :D

my 02 7.3 was a bit slower

but my 6.0 is even more slower
and like roy said
aint nothing like hearing that little old starter go whirrrrrrr

Some of ya'll know where I place the blame at;low fuel lubricity and cetane levels :doh:

I also found out that if it starts to take just a little longer than normal to start, it can be a good indication that your lift pump is beginning to lose pressure and you need to have it looked at.
