Our Public Safety service has a pile of the 6.0 Diesels from 2003 to current. We have had about every problem you can think of go wrong with the trucks from engine surges, no power, blowing constant black smoke, puffing smoke, popping noise in back in the air breather and blowing coolant out on the driver side of the truck around the jug. It seems the Ford Dealerships around here are blaming it on the winches the trucks have on the front. They claim it makes the turbo overheat and fail. Since little to no air flow is blocked sounds like hog wash to me. Our fleet manager is hell bent this is the problem.:roflmao

We have had very little if any problems with our fleet of 6.0's. We initially had the re-flashes when they first came out, but no real major issues I am aware of. We currently have 11+ running in our Dept. I am happy with the '05 model assigned to me:D .

Thats good if you have not had any problems. We have 20-30 betweeen Fire and EMS plus a few for other services. Our Rescue is working on the forth turbo. They have had several different flash updates and other changes. I think the dealership has ran out of things to do and they are searching for anything to get out of covering the truck under warranty.

where are you ? you make it sound like you have 20-30 powerstrokes...yet i read
in another thread you have TWO...

Assuming you wanna fix these yourself (or even HELP the local dealer)
the 1st youre gonna have to find out is WHAT the (OBDII) codes are that are
set in the trucks computers.

THEN id recommend that its imperative you find another dealer QUICKLY !

i think the 1 or 2 trucks is at his specific dept.
our Department has two Ford trucks we use for Rescue and FireFighting. A F-550 and a F-450 SuperDuty

then, the whole city or county utilizes 20 to 30 trucks (all depts. included)

Speaking as someone who has merely a passing knowledge of probability and statistics, I could say out of a fleet of thirty, perhaps SIX might have the problems he is describing, TOPS. It sounds to me like our original poster is a denizen of the Drama Stop, where Power Stroke bashing is an art form.

Sorry, but I feel that he is feeding us a ration of USDA Grade A bull****.
My crap-o-meter went full scale after reading the first post.
