agreed on the IC flex hose connections...clean 'em GOOD clean the
inside of the rubber flex hose too...and then apply some silly-cone
and wrench those clamps down.
its been found that once the hoses are removed they tend to blow
rather frequently...and thats probably from the CCV-blow-by oil
making the mate between the two connections slick.
ive NEVER had mine blow...but i also know i have tightened the
clamps beyond spec.
the reoccuring turbo replacement stinks of a dealer or repair
facility that doesnt know what theyre doing...i dont know 'bout the
unstable idling.
but the low power and puffing black smoke (and error codes)
point to possible egr problems...im not recommending this but
you might consider pulling the egr connection to see if things
settle down...
how are they "limiting" power ? and who is "they"...is it the dealer ?
ive never heard of anyone being able TO reduce the power output.
the PUKING of coolant is an issue w/ the degauss bottle...the lower
fill level reduces it....but if yours got hot/low on coolant you may have
blown a head gasket...the only real way to determine is to pull an
oil sample and see what the coolant content is (you might find
fuel content is up too...if youve got bad injectors or injector seals)
the other option is to test for combustion gasses in the coolant
(you can do this at the degauss bottle too)...personally id do the oil
sample test (blackstonelabs.com) and the combustion gasses test...
and see what you come up w/.
its no doubt some of the 1st 6.0L were problematic...but i think youll
find a LARGE amount of the problems were due in fact from a lack of
training and understanding by the dealer shops on how the 6.0L works.
some one should be questioning WHY ANYONE would go thru FOUR turbos
and STILL have problems (kinda tells ya, it AINT the turbos)...it sounds
like someone isnt taking the time to PROPERLY diagnose & trouble shoot
the truck....attn. should be given to the VGT & EBPV solenoids the work
hand in hand w/ the EGR valve and one will have a direct impact on
the operation of the others
this guys site is a good read on some of the issues the 6.0L have had,
and hes one of the 1st to say alot of the "unresolved" issues are due
in part to a lack of training --> FDDTS - Articles
