4R100 Tranny Problems!

Hi everyone im new to the site. Just bought my first deisel a 2003 f250 with the 7.3. It is a rebuild in progress! I am having tranny problems the old tranny that was in the truck was in bad shape from the wreak so i bought a used one (4r100 out of an 2001) from a salvage yard for $800. After switching it out it will not shift into overdrive and the light on the shifter blinks. checked all fuses replace the bad ones and still same problem. Wondering if it could be the wireing harnest looks to be ok but maybe something im not able to see. Any ideals?

Normaly if you are getting the blinking shifter light, then something is wrong.

You will need to get someone to scan it to find out what codes it is throwing.

Our Excursion's OD light flashed which turned out to be a faulty VSS(Vehicle Speed Sensor) on the rear axle.

I believe there was recent threads on the flashing OD lamp in the forums but I haven't followed em all.

The one on my 97 started to flash, and it was the speed sensor in the tranny. Like everyone else said, it could be many things, so I would recomend getting it scanned. By the way, Welcome to SDD.com

Ok code shows tork converter wiring. I have talked to a few people that say the wiring on the 01's and 03's are different. Some one suggested dropping the pan on the tranny and swapping the plugs. Not sure if that will work or not but i guess i will try that next. Has anyone had this problem or have any ideals?

My 01' is blinking also can someone tell me what a P0713 code is? All I saw was a P1713 and that says its tranny problems which is kinda not help full. It shifts fine and doesn't act funny also the sppedo doesn't bounce or act up so its got me wondering what the problem is.

Put a new solenoid pack in and mine is working fine agin. Not sure about the codes i think mine showed tork converter wiring. It showed it had a short in the wiring but it was the solenoid pack. It was easy to change. Hope that helps.
