On the ic, this is where you are gonna get into some custom work. the 7.3 cooler is very good, the general line of thought is that the 6.0 cooler has more surface area and is more effiecent @ cooling....on the pipes you have only two chioces, buy a kit, gts motorsports has a complete bolt-on to use with either cooler....If you do it dyi way you have to use 7.3 stock piping and reconfigure the passengers side pipe big time. the drivers side can be made to fit with one additional boot. Look in my pics under ic pipes, it will show you how different you have to make the passengers side. You'll also need the "early 99" sd stock y pipe, it will fit up to our stock turbo and head intakes with some different boots......

Step One, Add Injectors.

1) TURBO GO BOOM!

3) EGT's GO BOOM!
4) HEADGASKETS GO BOOM!

Step 2

1)ADD BTS
2)ADD BIG OIL
3)ADD HEADSTUDS
4)ADD INTERCOOLER
5)ADD TURBO

SUBTRACT $10K or so FROM WALLET!

all the mods to my truck are listed in my signature.only thing not in the truck now is the stealth HPOP do to issues i had.i dont tow with it but it is my daily driver/race truckif your a speed freak like us just get a set of BDP stage 2s.you wont be happy with stage1s or equivelent.i ran my stage 2s for a little while on the stock HPOP.as long as i wasnt really hammering it it wouldnt set the CEL.i now have the SD HPOP but i can still set the CEL for the HPOP.

to run the stealth hpop system you will need an aftermarket fuel system wich is a good idea anyways.BDP makes a sweet fuel system.the one time my stealth worked right i almost had a heart attack till it blew a gasket out at 4200PSI:eek: :D .with the stealth working right i layed into and holy CRAAAAPP  it will set you back in the seat and you cant pull yourself back up till you let out of the throttle.

i ran around for a little while with out an intercooler.wasnt to bad to keep the egts in check.intercooler made a huge difference though.the GTS IC kit is expensive but worth every penny,i have it.just look on ebay for an IC you can score one cheap!i got the 6.0 IC off ebay for a little over 100.00.ups damaged it while shipping and i got it for free.

my stock turbo lasted most of the year.i rum 36+ PSI of boost all the time.and with the truck running like crap and a HPOP leak i still did 367HP on the dyno with the SD pump.

get the chip from BDP or wildman.the wildman programs are sweet!!

if youre worried about fuel mileage like most of us are leave the truck stock!!once you get a taste of the extra new found power you will have youre fuel mileage will never be the same.i get 16.5 MPG on the highway or in the city.i know its wierd and it should be better on the highway but none of my trucks are normal.i run my truck in my high chip settings all the time.i go through more fuel if i use the economy or tow programs cuz im constantly on the throttle cuz it dont have the power like the extreme settings.

i drag/street race my truck so im not much help for towing.

Yea I agree,

If you want better fuel mileage, leave it stock.

I run on HIGH (only 1 program chip) all the time, been doing it for years.

Get about 16-18MPG Highway, but i do have 4.10 gears and big tires ;)

Step One, Add Injectors.

1) TURBO GO BOOM! not if you keep the boost under 35 PSI
2) TRANNY GO BOOM!thats a given even withjust a chip.my stock tranny lasted 2 months after the chip install
3) EGT's GO BOOM!EGTs are very manageable with proper right foot control
4) HEADGASKETS GO BOOM!this happens when you start pushing 45+PSI of boost.ne head problems in my truck in a year with my mods.bought truck with 314,000 miles it now has 348,000 miles on it

Step 2

1)ADD BTSdont count the monster box out.i have it and its been trouble free
2)ADD BIG OILa SD HPOP is all thats need for a street/tiow vehicle
3)ADD HEADSTUDSif youre running over 45 PSI of boost, but still a good idea
4)ADD INTERCOOLERdefinately a good idea and should be one of the first mods you do on a diesel
5)ADD TURBOonly if you plan on running over 35 PSI of boost all the time like i do.

SUBTRACT $10K or so FROM WALLET!better add a few more bux to that figure if you wanna set it up like some of our trucks

HAVE A NICE DAY! :)better find a good plastic surgeon to remove the perma grin from you face and seek professional help for the PMS(powerstroke mod syndrome)that you now have

theres my thoughts

Do it right the first time or you WILL be paying later ;)

I still think the stock turbo WILL Blow up on a High Mileage Truck, You will be WAY out of the MAP of the Stock Turbo.

And Who wants to keep it under 35 PSI????

That ain't no fun! :)

Yea, I am counting out the Monster Box, I have known more of them to blow up than any of the BTS. (But I am allso bias, so we don't have to start a BTS VS MTB war here ;) )

But NONE of them are perfect ;)
