Absolutely!! I have been wanting some of those things for a WHILE!!! It will probably by Sat March 1st, the weekend before that i will be doing something with my ATV :)

mike- i just noticed the names on the visors- Endeavor, Discovery, Endurance? Space shuttle theme? LOL

i am curious about the 4x4 van in the pics. there is a company that does them.

Quigley Motor Company, Inc.

dp

Maybe somebody has something for space/NASA but I am almost certian that it has more to do with thier job (driving unexplored area to from the South Pole) than space. But i could be wrong.

The vans have a Fabtech lift on them, bought from a company in Denver. Nothing special.

Mike, thanks for all of the pics from the Ice. Like Big Joe said brought back memories of my 2 trips there. The newest piece of equipment we got were a couple of LGP D6s. A lot of the Cat equipment we had used pony motors to start.

Have a great time in Che Che.

Cat Challenger - They will be using them for delivering fuel on sleds to the south pole

. They did it this year with the red Case Quadtrack tractors pictured at the end.

Why are they switching to the Challengers? On the North Slope they used Challengers for years but started switching over to the Case/IH type back in 2000. The Challengers do much more damage to the tundra when the snow gets thin. No worry of damaging the environment down there?

Case said:
What makes the Case IH Quadtrac® different from wheeled tractors and two-track designs? Four independent tracks make a larger footprint for greater flotation, and that lets you get into fields earlier, and drive through wet spots, where you couldn’t with traditional tires or even two tracks.

Full-power turns under load are possible with a Quadtrac tractor—unlike two-track systems that vary power to each track during turns.

Conventional articulated steering also reduces soil disturbance on headlands, letting the Quadtrac tractor turn with minimal ridging or berming.
