Been runnin Rotella syn in the motor for as long as its been on the market. It's the tranny I run dino in. I'm trying out some Mobil 1 syn in the motor now, think I'm switching back after this try though. Seems to spin more before starting with the Mobil.

I don't send my oil out for testing first of all. I mostly change it every 5K because I only drive about 5K a year anyway. There have been two times (66K on the clock right now) that I went 10K but it was because I did alot of across country highway miles, and just gambled on it, changing the filter at 5K. It's more money for syn, but I do think the truck runs quieter, and smoother, and I don't change it often enough to hurt my wallet any.

in our 92 we ran castrol syntec and chaged it every 5k. got real darn expensive
so in teh 02 and the boss we stayed with dino rotella and run 10k, well the boss gets her second one next week at 12k then we will go for extended runs based on analysis....

what does the synthetic oil manufacturors recommend for how ofton to change the synthetic oil?

when it can hold no more dirt and the additive package is used up
and shear loads.
oil samples are really the only way to know, each engine and driving conditions are to different.
I remember mobil 1 in gassers used to advertise 50k between changes without bypass.
about ten is as far as i feel comfortable. both my psds let me know when its time, they start running different, longer starts etc.

I run Mobil-1 synthetic in the Mustang and change the oil w/filter every 6,000 miles with a filter change at 3k thus I'd do the same or similar if I ran synthetic in the PowerStroke.
