i have owned an 04 6.0 i hooked the 2 wires as described in another Thread and raised my idle to 1200 with the flip of a switch. Can this be done on an 07. I looked under the dash and found the wires but they seem to be different colors. their was a plastic wrap on them with writing stating pto what color and other things they seem to be for? i know these trucks can have upfitter switches but not sure what they are.
I do want to elevate my idle at times. what are the upfitter switches?
Can anyone chime in?
thanks

i found the wires to do this on an 05 06 07, their are 2. same places as the 04. the orange wiresolid orange is pto. use the same blue and white by the computer port. their is also a purple and light green wire that can be used. This is also fine leaves converter unlocked so does not turn pto, but it can allow idle 1200 to 2400 depending on how much charge the battery needs.
using orange converter is locked(no biggie) but idle will only do 1200. I chose this one, works great

If I lived there I would want it. I use mine all the time in the summer time waiting in line for something. Where you live it will be nice for warmig up your truck on the cold mornings:thumbs

its not completely necessary...although it is a nice to have.

the 6.0L automatically IDLES UP based on the ambient air temp,
below 45* it takes a slight increase and then another around 30*
or less (*'s in "f", of course).

We ordered our truck with upfitter switches, but so far have not found a need for them. Someday maybe.

Hmmmm ,,, Might use the inverter. As slow as I drive, radar detector is not needed, but thanks for the great ideas.
Bush;
Being old and retired, the only thing I use the truck for is to pull the 5th wheel, and I will use it to tow the drag race car to the track. My main fun is to build race engines, and race them at the different tracks. This has to wait until 2009, because 2008 we will be traveling around the USA. (God willing).
