Searching for problem solution, I test drove a 2006 F350 CC 4X4 Dully w/4:10 gears.
The problem when driving on some streets with sharp turns the Trucks acts like the front Hubs and drive in locked into 4 wheel drive. I went to a large empty parking lot and did some donuts turning left or right the front end drive as if the 4 wheel was engaged.. The front end has some jerks that repeat when staying in the turn. Turn the other directions still jerks.
Have any of you experience this problem? The Oasis report does have a front stabilizer being replaced for jerks when turning. That was on 6/11/07. Truck only has 24K

Thanks for any suggestion

The dealer (Salesman) called to tell me that Service Department had looked at and drove this truck.
They have determined that the 4X4 or front hubs are not engaged,
They also stated that the “HYDRO BOOAST” is causing this jerking? For me it feels that the front end is in 4 wheel drive.
Have any of you experience this problem?

Thanks

Ken

if the hubs WERENT locked you wouldnt have the "skipping" in
sharp turns...if i had to bet id say it was a vac. seal problem (electronic
shift on the fly 4wd ???).

if you ever wanna confirm that the hubs are locked (or not)...reach up
under the front and try and turn the "1/2 shaft" on each wheel...

Thanks for the reply. Dealer claims HUBS were not locked.

This is a used truck, It just occured to me could the prblem be water in PS Fluid? Some where along the way the truck went to a clean up shop,

dont know 'bout water in the power steering fluid...
from what i can tell your discription is accurate of a hub
(or two) that refuses to UNLOCK (you apparently are familar
w/ 4wd by your discription).

if you can reach under turn the 1/2 shaft and it turns, then you
know the hub is unlocked...but you have to check both sides.

the "auto" hubs are vaccum operated and sometimes the vac. hub
seals or o-rings leak (a vac. leak on one or both hubs will prevent
the hub from locking and/or un-locking).

I've said it before and I'll say it agian. Auto hubs are great for convieniece, but are bad for many more reasons, this being one. I love my maual hubs. They are a pain sometimes, but if your going into an area where you might need them you just get out before and lock them in. Call it old school, but I like manual hubs. JMO. Good luck on your problem. Also, I agree wit Bush, sounds like the hubs are not UNLOCKING. If they were unlocked like the dealer said, then you wouldn't be having this problem.

ive not had a single problem w/ mine...and i think ive had 'em out
maybe 3 times in 70k miles...(once to do ball joints)....mine lock and
unlock (watch me jinx myself now) all the time w/out issue.

these trucks are NOT maint. free...and a little bit of preventive maint.
goes a LONG way.

i like not having to get out in the mud, snow or RAIN to lock my hubs...
lets see you fully manual guys do that ;)

Agreed 110% I always get out and lock 'em in before I get in the deep stuff if I think I'm gonna need 'em at all. Bush, I agree with you also, a little PM goes a long way. I know that some people have had zero problems with their auto hubs/SOTF 4X4. It all depends. I have a 97 F-150 with auto hubs and have not had a problem with them (knock on wood). I would still rather have a TC stick pokin through the floor and manual hubs. JMO. I'm not tryin to bash SOTF 4X4 at all. This is soley opion and to each his own. Alos, I do realize that these, and most other vehicles are not maintnece free. I do my best to do PM and keep on top of the maintnece of all my vehicles and equipment.;tu
