Does anyone have the same problem with a driver door whistling due to the weather stripping no seating correctly?? And what they did to correct the problem? The 2006 has already been to the dealer and had the door aligned and a new weather stripping put in... WTF :cussing:

You can tighten up the door seal by running some polly tubing thru
the opening (large) "tube" of the weather strip.

my weather strip for EACH door is a single long bit...i soaped up
some poly tube (avail at lowes & the like) and pulled it thru the
entire lenght of each doors weather strip.

it REALLY cut down on the wind noise...it takes a bit of effort
to close the door but thats the price you pay for a TIGHT seal.

i think so

tygon works good but its $$$ the plain old vinyl tubing is cheap and works mucho gusto at killing the noise.

also look at the windshield gasket and door gasket where they meet at the leading edge of the "A"pillar..it tends to curl at the edges and will cause a whistle while you work

yeah clear tubing....im in the process of finding my OLD write ups...

----------------
i used CLEAR poly/vinyl tubing...1/4ID-3/8OD, 20cents a foot
at lowes, its reported that youll need 55ft to do a crew cab...
i bought 60+ feet.
---------------

i used a FISH TAPE to push the nylone string thru the hole in
the weather strip.

then i poked a hole thru the poly/vinyl tubing...then i tied
the string thru the hole in the vinyl tubing...then i pulled the
string BACK thru the weather strip...w/ the vinyl tube tied to
the string the vinyl tube will follow as you pull the string....
keep some soap/water on the vinyl tube as you pull it thru and
it will glide thru w/ a little bit of effort.

--------------------

run the TUBING thru the LARGER of the two openings in the
weather strip (i tried to get it thru the smaller opening
and it seems impossible to get more than a couple of inches
inserted).

i "fished" a piece of nylon string thru the entire lenght of
the weather strip 1st, that done, i then attached the nylon
string to the poly tube (1/4id-3/8od) and then pulled the
poly tube back thru using the nylon string...some
dish detergent and water in a cup (makes it PRETTY
SLIPPERY) on the tubing help the poly tube slip thru
the weather strip...get some of the soapy water on
the tube and PULL it gently back thru the weather strip.

on the 1st door i did i tried pushing the tube
thru...wasted 20min doin that before i said theres got
to be a better way...so i fished the nylon string thru &
pulled the tube back thru...i had it down pretty good
by the 3rd door (less than about 10min per door)

i reinstalled the weather strip at the top and sides of
the door and let any remaining soap & water drain (outside
the truck w/ the doors open) while i did the next door.

its really cured a LARGE amount of wind noise around the truck
doors...takes a bit more effort to close the truck doors too,
its well worth the 12bucks & effort !

I used Latex Tubing. Vinyl has a tendency to get hard and brittle when it gets cold.

Not much of a problem here in 'Bama, sorry, just the truth.

Did the driver's door yesterday. I'll do the other doors tomorrow. Good writeup.

Thanks,

Al

Ive not had any problems, now or when i lived in virginia...the poly
tubing gets STIFF in the cold but never brittle.

the problem w/ the latex tubing is that 1 it may not be STIFF enough
to seal and TWO the latex will break down...depending on the
environment it could brake down fairly quickly...and i mean in a year or
less...

im not sure what the reaction might be between latex & the weather strip
either...
