But you would order the part from Ford for the specific model and color. When you pick up the part from Ford, it is that part in the specified color. You personally are not required to take the part to the autobody shop to have it color matched....Correct? So in essence would you not be ordering the part in the specified color to be delivered as such?

NO, its like a blank canvas. if you needed a new fender for your truck, does it come to you in the color that you need? of course not. when the truck is built at the factory, of course they paint it if that is what's called for (i.e. xlt sport package, king ranch, harley davidson editions)

ford is only going to send you the part that is appropriate for what you are going to do with it.

kusto, go to your local ford dealer and try to order a grill, already painted to match your truck, and see what they tell ya. then you will know for sure.

you might be able to get a painted grille from ford. 2001 ranger grilles come painted from the factory, so if they sell trucks with grilles painted that color, you should be able to.

The sport package is and was not available with the "Dark Torreador Red" color choice. The Excursions also were only available with the "Bright Torreador Red" color choice (Like my truck and Rachel's Excursion), not "Dark". So, even if they did come from the factory painted, there would not be a color choice available to match the color on Joey's truck.

I.e, the only choice is to get a paint to match grill, and have it painted.

nothing wrong with having to paint something, but yes it would be nice if they came already painted, but they don't.

i know what they'll tell me because I'VE DONE IT. what's not to get? i went to the ford dealer, ordered a new grille, and when the box showed up it had a RED grille inside. yes, they DO come painted some times. if you read my whole post, it said IF the trucks came from the factory that color you MIGHT be able to get one painted from the factory, because i know FOR A FACT, that ford does ship some parts painted from the factory, like the ranger grille i bought. i don't know about super duty grilles, that's why i said "MIGHT". calm down dude. we're all just tryin' to help people who have questions.

well, did you intend on getting a red one? or was it a mistake, your avatar shows a chrome grill, or was it on another truck?

i can see how you could possibly get a red or black, because of the sport package option that comes that way.

the thread starter wanted to know about one in dark toreodor red, which has been confirmed by others that ford didn't offer that color of a grill with the color of the truck, so you would have to have it painted to match.

i am only basing what i say on my own exp.

did not mean to sound ugly, if so i am sorry.

it would be nice if we could everything from ford to match our truck colors.

but ford didn't or doesn't offer everykind of package for every kinda color.

i guess that is why there are so many options for all the diff. tastes out there.

some like the king ranchs, some like the harleys, some like the lariats, some like the xlt sports, some like the plain jane xl's. that's part of customizing, we like to do stuff to our trucks to make them unique.

yeah, i want my door handles the same color as my truck. but it didn't come that way for the lariat. the new '07 HD is the only one i have seen where the handles are painted med. wedgewood blue like the rest of the truck.

maybe i could find some sittin at a junk yard someday off a wrecked HD edition and then i wouldn't have to go the trouble of takin them off to have them painted. but that probably will never happen.

so, what do i do? i go ahead and take them off and paint them myself or have someone do it for me.

it would probably be cheaper to paint them than to go lookin all over the place for some already painted.

i guess it boiles down to how bad do you really want something, if you can't get them all ready painted, just go ahead and get the job done and have them painted and get it over with.
