OK, so last wednesday my truck started running very rough and wouldn't harldy idle... and eventually wouldn't even start. So I had it towed home, replaced the CPS and fuel pump.. Nuthin, so then I dug into all of the fuses and every one of them are good. No codes came up on the scanner. When I turn the key on, the glow plug relay smokes and gets hot. While cranking, white smoke comes out of the exhaust. I am in the process of taking the valve covers off and checking the harnesses. I have the drivers side off and it looks good except for one break in a wire, but there is still a connection, Ill definately replace that, but I doubt that is the problem. I am workin on getting the other valve cover off, its a pain in the butt... but hopefully there will be something else wrong over there and hopefully thats my problem, but if its not, then I don't know what else to do. Any help would be appreciated. ive been on this for about 30 hours straight trying to get it goin...

find out why the GPR is smoking. if its bad then fix it to eliminate that problem.

rumor is the Stancor relay is cheaper/heavier duty. search for it on the forums.

Smoking GPR....not good...find out what's causing that.

White smoke out the tailpipe means you are getting fuel out of the injectors but the GPs are not hot enough to get the fuel ignited, back to the smoking GPR. You could try jumping the GPR, with the key off, take a set of jumper cables and put red clamp on one post of the GPR and the other red clamp on the other post of the GPR for 10-15 seconds then remove and try and start.

Also how old are the batteries?

I have it in a heated/insulated shop now, and the batteries are the original ones. What could I check to see whats causing the GPR to get that hot? Could the relay itself be bad and shorting out? Or could I have a bad set of glow plugs? Thanks for the help guys

Your batteries are at the end of their normal life. I used to change mine every 3 years like clockwork. The glow plugs draw a lot of current and that will drag down your batteries to the point where your starter will not spin the motor fast enough to start.
