Idk about 4WD....i had my hubs out anyways when I was driving because I thought it was the hubs trying to engage. And I just now got everything down to the hub assy off. I'm going to try to get the rest off tomorrow.

Inside, where the locking hub goes into, there was what looked like silver grease and metal shavings....I guess from bearings:dunno are there bearings on the backside? I had a repair manual...but my wife decided to clean and now I can't find the darn thing.

this makes me think you have two problems.. because we still haven't discussed anything outside of the front end..

Maybe this problem with the backside cause my hub assy rub the rotors or something like that....Guess I'll find out sooner or later.

I've never seen a stub axle that loose in a hub without something being totally jacked; wrong part, damaged, worn out or otherwise..

but that still wouldn't explain the vibration that comes and goes over bumps, because you'd need to be in 4WD for any of this junk in the front to be causing a problem other than a rattle..

I can deffinately feel it in my front end. I think its just bumping up against the wheel and axle....ratteling like you said.:dunno I thought maybe it was the splines in my differential slipping after I hit a bump.

I'm just going to tear into it and replace whatever falls out and see if thats the fix.
