I was removing the dealer oil change sticker and noticed in very small print that the sticker said 10W/30. Is there a 10W30 motorcraft oil w/ the CH-4 rating or did I drive my truck for 5K with the wrong oil???

10w30 is what they use in winter . I would make sure you get 15w40 if you do any towing . :sweet

I only bring it up cuz my wife (who notices nothing normally) Said it appeared to be running much quieter since the oil change. It seemed to be making a lot of noise to me previously, but I assumed I was just nutts.

so what oil do you use in the winter if you still tow and the temps are 40 one day and 10 the next?

The heavier weight oil is only a problem maybe, and I do mean maybe, for starting at extremely low temperatures. I hit the key at -20F in west virginia after a weekend of skiing, and after 30 seconds of glow plugs, it belched some black smoke made some funny noises, and fired right up. I'm sure with 100k on the clock, it will be a different story, but, you get the idea.

Someone else I'm sure already said that it's the initial starting more so than the actual protection level that's the basis for the viscosity change.
