I m on my second week of ownership. I let the fuel go down low to see when the warning light will come on. Couldn't wait cause the gauge had gotten down to a 1/16 '' above E . My '99 gasser would give me a 25 mile window warning when it lit. I understand I must keep at least a 1/3 tank due to the dew Condensation in tank . Any thoughts?

based on average MPG i typically get warned w/ 80 miles til empty...
i dont recommend it but i have OFTEN
run it to -- miles til empty.

WOW, does it give it at 80 to go because of the bigger tank bush?

My light comes on at or around 25 milies to go.

couldnt tell ya...its the way its programed from the factory...
i keep sayin' im gonna try to change it w/ my autoenginuity software
but i never get around too it...ive looked at the display set up
thru AE but never even tried to change it.

i understand the dealer can program it w/ their tool...but beginning
in 2005 they apparently REMOVED the ablity to do this

I ran mine till it got weak in the knees once, just to see how accurate the gauge is. Had 5 gallons of fuel in a jerry can, and it went for another 22 miles after the gauge was on zero and the light had been on for well over an hour. I realize that sounds ridiculous, but I wanted to know what to expect. Now I always carry 5 gallons in the tool box, and if I'm going for a real ride I throw another 5 gallon jug in the bed.

doesnt sound crazy to me...ive gone 15 miles AFTER the display went "--"
and stuffed in almost 41 gallons on a 38 gallon tank.

figure a 5gal spare can would get you 50-75miles

Yep. Only used those jugs maybe 3-4 times in the last 4 years, but when you need them, its a blessing to have.

I have never heard of this, and I disagree. You will get FAR more water in your tank at the pump than you will ever see from condensation within the tank.
