You have to keep the tank 1/3 full? Where did that come from? :dunno

as the documentation is proof - i get ~10/11 mpg and so my light comes on and i drive it for another day (in town) and at the pump, the pump kicks off around 22/23 gallons put in...usually pump in up to 28/29..

so that being said - i too get the gauge at ~60-80 to go...

occasionally pump will stop around 25 gallons..

My 6.0 will start to sputter when you get really low. Thats when I know it's REALLY time to fill up. I don't have an info center that tells me xx miles to E, so couldn't tell you there. Last time it was sputtering on me I got over 31 gallons in the tank. Don't recommend that practice though. It can't be great for your engine either. I also carry a can of diesel in the bed of the truck most times, but I had already dumped it in there, so it was of no help!

Since new in 06, I have never run our main tank (38 gallons) below 1/2 tank. Now that we have the 74 gallon in bed tank, we probably never will.
19 gallons equals 351 miles on our truck empty at 70 mph.
Pulling our 5th wheel 100 gallons equals 1400 miles at 60 mph level ground, no head wind.
