Just bought a 05 SD F350 with 110000 miles on it. Ive had it a week now and it has run/started flawlessly ever since. Until now!
I change the oil and filter and both fuel filters over the past weekend. It ran great as usual after the new filters and all. Took it on a good 40 mile drive down the highway yesterday and all was fine. Before i went home i fueled up for the first time in the truck. I went to a busy station and filled up the tank with (diesel) as the tank was very low. Almost just a minute after i started the truck up after fueling my wife noticed smoke out the back of the truck from the exhaust.
Not really worried i said its diesel it will be ok. On the way home i noticed the truck slightly running rough and seemed to lack all the power it had. After getting off the highway 40 miles later it seemed worse. I came to the light right off the highway and the truck was bucking and just died about 5 seconds after comming to a stop. It would not start back up! It turned over and kind of tried to start but never would.
Today after work i pulled the fuel seperator out to check for water and or clogged filter. It was clean and i didnt see any water in the pail i cought the water in. I also noticed the coolant res was empty and there was dried white residue all over the battery and coolant tank. looked like it exploded!
I got people telling me i dont have enough oil pressure or i got blown head gaskets! I have a 9 second mustang that i built from the ground up and i know all about blown head gaskets.
No water in the oil! The smoke we saw looked white (it was at night). All seems like a HG to me but why wont it start? I can kill my mustangs HG's and still start the car?
This is too long im sorry. My first diesel truck! Everything i know about a gas car is ass backwards from a diesel so im trying to learn. (the hard way i guess)
Im just stumped that all this happened imediatly after fueling the truck for the first time. I almost bet my life it had to be fuel related or 1 in a million coincedential. Ive read a thousand recalls on these trucks in the last day that im sick! Even a recall of the fuel tanks coatings flaking off!
Thanks guys sorry so damn long!
