Question Noise in drive train
The noise was more throttle related. It deminished when accelarating and came back when leveled out. Its funny that the noise always seemed to be coming from the left front wheel. Others who drove the truck thought the same thing but it was the rear end. Thanks again for the response.- doforlet

Well guys the F350 is fixed. Found a good rearend at local salvage yard with 98000 miles on it and 90 day warranty for $750. Every thing looked great inside. Installed and no more "WAWAWAWA" down the road. Found another problem. The rear brake calipers were on the wrong side. The bleeders were...- doforlet

Pull the rear inspection cover off the rearend. crack it open and let the lube drain. On my diff the small spider gears in the center were scared pretty good. The ring and pinion had small scratches in wear surface. 99% sure that is the cause of my noise. Ring and pinon not messed right. Had an...- doforlet

Question Noise in drive train
I did not think about taking any pics. Should have. Price a gear shop locally and the price went from $1200 to $2000. Does anybody know if the older model F350 rears will interchange. Thinking about finding one at salvage yard. Thanks for all the help.- doforlet

Pulled the backing plate today on the rear diff. Spider gears have marks on them, Not smooth. Consderable scratches. Ring and pinion not marked as bad. Some small scratches. Looks like it has been run without oil at some time. Just bought truck a few months ago out of Florida. Drove it home and...- doforlet

Well it's Dec 27th, finished changing out hub bearings today. One had wear but this did not change the noise. Bearings did have somewhat of a black look to them. pulled the fill plug and had some build up on it. Rear diff may have been run to hot at some time. I guess it is tear down time for...- doforlet

New Member new with a noise truck
Big Joe Thanks for the welcome. The 350 only has a Hyper-Tech program for now. Set on stage 3. K&N filter. The noise sounds like the noise a tire makes when the tread goes bad. Posted a thread on the 99+ forum. Did not want to get to deep into it on the welcome center page. Thanks Again.- doforlet

Noise that sounds like a tire going bad. New tires, been checked. Have changed front wheel bearings, they needed it and U-joins and carrier bearing. No slack in rear axel bearing that I can tell.
