Question Noise in drive train

JL, im sure this has been asked before...
I know how to drop the driveshaft down because I've read up on how to lube the slip yoke. what else will i need to remove to check all that out?
What else will I be looking for that would be worn out?

Pull the rear inspection cover off the rearend. crack it open and let the lube drain. On my diff the small spider gears in the center were scared pretty good. The ring and pinion had small scratches in wear surface. 99% sure that is the cause of my noise. Ring and pinon not messed right. Had an offer for a free rear diff that only has 50,000 miles but it has 4:10 gears which I don't need. Iwould love to have a 3:55 but I think they only come in the 10.25 rearends.

3.55 gears come on all of the rear ends. You will need new gears of course.

yea i just had my rear end cover off about a yr ago and changed out the fluid...everything looked good so i cant imagine that it wouldve gone bad in that short of a time period. Plus, my noise sounds like its coming from the front...

Well guys the F350 is fixed. Found a good rearend at local salvage yard with 98000 miles on it and 90 day warranty for $750. Every thing looked great inside. Installed and no more "WAWAWAWA" down the road. Found another problem. The rear brake calipers were on the wrong side. The bleeders were on the bottom. Switched and everthing is fine. I can turn my radio down soome now. Also developed a poping noise in the front when the wheel was turned. Joint on drag link was loose. Tightened and steering back to normal. Thanks to all for the help.

so your rear end was toast? Was your issue throttle related?

The noise was more throttle related. It deminished when accelarating and came back when leveled out. Its funny that the noise always seemed to be coming from the left front wheel. Others who drove the truck thought the same thing but it was the rear end. Thanks again for the response.
