    Humbug--I'm celebrating Festivus this year.;)

    Price of Diesel?

Yep, but you know the SAS was chomping at their bits to do just such a thing.;)

    Need a basic reference

Ditto--I have a set of those same manuals for my '02 (thanks, PB) and they're worth every penny.

    Traveling to Canada questions

They're more expensive when you're a black, French-Canadian eskimo vs. just a regular person from north of the border...

    Glow plug R/R

We went to Old Chicago too and it was kind of disappointing, in addition to being EXTREMELY LOUD. Maggie said something funny about the pizza there--she said: "The dough is like Pizza Hut and the sauce is like Pizza Hut too, but with less flavor". I don't know if I'll be going back, since...

    Glow plug R/R

They were an interruption, but a welcome one since (1) Teddy got to see some new people (he hasn't seen them in the last ten minutes, so they're completely new to him) and (2) my back needed a break--I'll be one achy sob tomorrow. Meehan's wife, on the other hand, was annoying since she doesn't...

    Glow plug R/R

Yep--he got new plugs today. ;) Start-to-finish, the R/R took just a tick under four hours for plugs, UVC harnesses, and a new GPR but there were a lot of interrruptions so if I had to do it again and could work continuously, I could probably have the whole thing done in 3 hrs. or so. I ended...

    Glow plug R/R

Do you need any special tools to get access to the valve cover bolts i.e. one of of flex-sockets w/the socket and universal all-in-one? Have you tried using a piece of heater hose to get the plug itself in/out after loosening it with a ratchet? I read somewhere that's a good idea but given...

    Glow plug R/R

I'm replacing the glow plugs and UVC harnesses on a buddy's '97 PSD tomorrow and am wondering if the procedure is as straightforward as I think or if there's anything I should keep an eye out for. I figure on using plenty of PB-Blaster on the threads and being REEEEEEEEALLY careful not to break...

    Just ordered a new stereo...

Well I got the new stereo installed on Friday and it's REEEEEEALLY nice having tunes back. The install was no big deal and only took ~2 hours to do since (1) I soldered the pigtail connections between the Pioneer harness and the Ford adapter Crutchfield sent me and (2) snaking the iPod...

    Diesel Power Magazine

Yep--when it first came out, it seemed as if every issue was a 200-page Banks ad and the last couple I've paged through have been just as bad, but for NADP, not Banks. -mad

    Diesel Power Magazine

It's barely-amusing crap, IMO and if I want to look at a bunch of ads, I'll go online and see 'em for free vs. paying for a magazine that's 75% advertising and a couple articles about the same-o, same-o mods that have been done to death already.

    Got Snow?

We didn't get that much accumulation, but the slick roads made driving a little tricky. Not impossible, but you definitely had to watch out for all the yahoos who forgot how to drive on snow/ice.

    Massive Fuel Leak

ITP is one of a couple different companies that make similar-functioning kits. Others are (and they're all stand-up merchants, plus Bob Riley @ Dieselsite could probably get you one of his kits in a day or so since he's down in Florida too)...

    Inexpensive Toolbox?

I'm kind of curious why you need a toolbox at all--isn't the truck you bought a crewcab? If so, there is enough room behind the back seat to fit a yoga mat (judging by the size of Mrs. JV's yoga mat) unless yours is extra-thick and so won't roll up neatly. Heck, even if your...

    Massive Fuel Leak

If you have some wayu to get around for a few days until it's delivered and the dough to buy it in the first place, I'd give some serious thought to getting one of THESE while you're that far into tearing the fuel system apart. I have that kit installed on my truck (did the install...

    Massive Fuel Leak

Driver's side or passenger's side? Is the leak coming from a fitting or from a break in the line itself? There are a couple of hold-down straps (not really straps, though--they look like a number "9" with a bolt through the tail of the 9) and they've been known to wear a hole in the fuel...

    Just ordered a new stereo...

Thanks--when I was at Best Buy I looked at the 4900 and feature-wise, it's pretty much a wash with the 5900 but the 5900's display is just a little spiffier so that's why I went with it. All the internals are the same (I think) so they'll sound the same but I had to cave in to the "looks" thing...

    Just ordered a new stereo...

I'm tired of having no tunes in the truck, and since Uncle Sam FINALLY got us our tax refund this year, I ordered myself one of THESE from Crutchfield a few minutes ago. I went to Best Buy a few weeks back and played around with the head units they had. For the kind/volume of music I listen...

    Movie Review "The Guardian"

I'm not denying that a bit, but I happen to like this particular re-re-re-re-re-re--re-telling of that story.:tounge

    I helped save the day.

I've done the same thing and it felt oh-so-good when I heard on my scanner that the P.D. was arresting the driver for DUI.:D :D :D :D
