    Taillights don't work (fuse blows)

Dave,I'd tell you to build a short finder out of a circuit breaker and a magnetic compass or inductive analog voltmeter and start running the wires.. how about didn't you tell me something about a pinched wire behind a fender due to collision damage a year ago or so?

    Question 2003 f450

something wonky with the power supply to the buffer.. or the buffer itself.. I'm just guessing here.. I don't think it's field serviceble.. I think the cluster has to be sent in for repair..

FYI "check coolant additive" warning light

my whole thing is, if you cancel it permanently, how are you suppossed to remember to check the additive concentration? Which if ignored, is going to lead to internal corrision problems.. You'd be amazed at how many people think DexCool in a GM vehicle is "permanent" and never needs...

    Front axle bearing

I'm not sure on the '06 front end.. on the earlier ones, the stub axle rode in a caged needle bearing. The locknuts inside the unit bearing still allow for some up and down movement.

FYI "check coolant additive" warning light

Listen to Roy, you shall.. yes, the light may be programmed to come on every few thousand miles, but they want you to check your coolant. (here's where I get really crappy..) Are you telling me you know more than the engineers that designed it?

FYI "check coolant additive" warning light

just as a question.. did you have the coolant tested (and found OK) or changed (and added to the new coolant)?

    Question Hesitation when starting out.

If it doesn't do it under cruise control, I'd suspect a throttle position sensor failing..

Integrated Brake Controller-Wiring Fault on Trailer

Would it help to know that RV's and equipment trailers are not wired the same through the connector? Best advise I can give you is this.. Your trailer tech should have a Power Probe and a Mutt (or Mini-Mutt is what I use).. You can easily find what's wired goofy that way. All RV's are wired...

    AC compressor shot

You know, Dan, I might be inclined to tell you to pull the evaporator housing off and take a look at it as long as you're under tha hood. Save you some more downtime down the road.

    AC compressor shot

You can probably rent the vacuum pump..

Question A/C not cooling only at cruising speed

Ok.. Now we're getting somewhere... First things first, it's low on charge. High side pressure should be more or less 200 psi at 1500 rpm. We'll worry about low side when we see if e can get the high side up. And yes, the green stuff is likely dye.

Question A/C not cooling only at cruising speed

Yeah. That would be. Take high & low side readings at 1. Idle 2. 1500rpm I'm thinking you have a dirty orfice tube (rapid cycling), and maybe a bad clutch (no cooling at high rpm)

    fuel pressure low at wot

Damage, no. In years past, off-road had a different cetane rating, algaecide/anti microbial, couple of other things. Now, it's just the dye and tax rate. K1, JP8, #2 diesel.. All pretty much the same stuff anymore. Ultra low sulfur. But like Doug said.. dON'T get caught with it in the tank...

Question A/C not cooling only at cruising speed

Without putting pressure gauges on it, it's hard to tell. Almost sounds like you have two problems, really. Know anyone with a manifold gauge set?
  23. JLDickmon

    fuel pressure low at wot

As long as your fuel gauge reads pressure, you're fine.
  24. JLDickmon

    fuel pressure low at wot

OK.. here's the thing you have to remember.. Diesels are throttled by the amount of fuel they get. They always get 100% air.. Think of your injectors as eight fuel leaks. At idle or low demand (cruise), not much fuel is demanded, so they don't leak much. At WFO/WOT, their running max...
