Question more new truck-buying decisions '10 vs '11
i'd get the 2011, the 6.4's are decent but they get garbage mileage even with tuning unless u cut the dpf and have to lift cab to do just about everything. The 2011 trucks get good mileage and do not need cab off repair work. Also from what i've seen and heard go like hell. If i bought another...- 6.0PSD777

7.3 vs 6.0 fuel mileage
Kind of a wash, 6.0's would get better but they have alot of emissins BS vs the 7.3 has a bigger displacment but doesn't have egr or emissions tuning. Mine is bone stock withe exception of an exhaust and i get about 14 city and 17-18 highway unloaded- 6.0PSD777

Your exactly right, The egr concept was completely new in diesel engines and people didn't know that u couldn't idle them for extended periods of time - Also Dealerships were not properly trained on how to work on them. Maintanence is key with them.- 6.0PSD777

How to remove headlight lense cover
I don't think they come apart, u can try cleaning the outside with rubbing compound but if it is really fogged on the inside u with have to buy new ones or find used ones in better condition. They are pretty reasonable aftermarket.- 6.0PSD777

Welcome to SDD.com!!! I have a 6.0 and so do many of my friends and family and we all love them. Really is a case of 1 bad story overshadows 5 good ones. Mine is stock other than exhaust(I think 325hp is plenty especially in a diesel pickup) but if u want to push hp levels u should get head...- 6.0PSD777

Question EGR replaced by dealer will that last forever
High idle mod is when u utilize the pto wire under the dash and hook it up to a switch so when u flip it and put the e-brake down it will idle the truck up to 1200 rpm and this keeps all the egr gasses flowing better and prevents soot from building up in the cooler and on the valve. U can unplug it but i belive u have to do it when the truck is off because the valve is in the closed position. I know people that have done it without issue but not sure of any other effects. This does not however stop egr gasses from flowing thru the egr cooler so if u coke that up bad the...- 6.0PSD777

93 non turbo or keep looking?
Dude, 300K is pretty tapped out- Look for something with more like 100-150K on it. At 300K stuff is just in general wore out, especially a fleet vehicle- 6.0PSD777
