The cold start lope is usually an oil related thing. When the standard summer (15w40) weight oil is cold, it gets rather thick and doesn't like to flow very well. FWIU, when the oil is real cold/thick, a oil pressure imbalance occurs between the right & left HP oil passages that feed the fuel...
It made sense to do so.
My other option was to sit in my chair every morning for a month, starting each day watching the Weather Channel chics and Robin Meade on CNN and moving on to the models on The Price is Right. :innocent
X2 what Joe said.
If you are going to drop the tank and open it up, it'd be a silly wasted opportunity to not do the 'Hutch' and 'Harpoon' mods. Just replacing the pickup snout, to be honest, makes very little sense.
The link below is the instruction sheet for a 'Hutch' mod kit with a...
Well, today is my last day of Christmas vacation. Tomorrow it's back to school.
I had an excellent experience interning with the mechanic at Boreal Aviation at the Sawyer Int'l airport.
I got to help with the annual on 3 different aircraft, 2 Cessna 150's and a Cessna 421. The guy could...
You may have to re-prime your new fuel pump also.
Take a shop vac and put the hose on the outlet of the unit so it blows air instead of sucking. Take the fuel cap off and using the shop vac, pressurize the fuel tank enough to make sure fuel is getting to the filter bowl.
If you don't...
That point cannot be over emphasized!!! If you have a problem after doing multiple mods at the same time, it makes it a lot harder to troubleshoot problems. You have more things to look at. One mod at a time narrows down your search area a lot.
Don't waste your money on Banks. They're are more talk than substance.
You can get more bang for the buck by going other routes.
Gauges are a must before any mods. As soon as you leave stock configuration, you begin to push the limits of the engine. The more you push the limits, the...
What would be the advantage over a regular 'flip' chip? :dunno
The 'flip' chip in my truck has 6 different programs that I can change on the fly without having to pull over and shut it down.
Are you looking for 12 selectable tunes or something like that?
On the 4R100 trans behind a 7.3, there is a pressure test port on the left side of the transmission. It has a plug installed in it. You can remove the plug and screw the temp sensor in right there.
Sounds like you need to do a 'Hutch' mod. I'll bet the rubber pickup snout has come loose from the pickup assembly in the tank. I've made posts before about my experiences with the same thing. I'll see if I can find my old post and give you a link.
on edit:
Found one:
There is a bi-metallic spring or coil on the front of the fan clutch facing forward. It is sort of like the coil spring in a thermostat in a house. As the temperature changes, the coils expands or contracts. Because it's wound around a screw, it turns a screw CW or CCW depending if it's...
It's a rotten job, but somebody's got to do it!! :D:D
But I'm prepared, I've got a big bag of peanuts, some microwave popcorn, a big carton or 'Whoppers', some 'punkin-a-pie' as well as some new DVD movies. :sweet:sweet
I'll ditto what has been said aready.
The key clue is the temperature thing you mentioned. That sounds like a classic, text book symptom of UVC connectors.
You could make more, but it'll take injectors that flow like a fire hose and a really, really big (i.e. expensive) turbocharger. Oh yeah, and new head gaskets and head studs or you will start seeing things coming thru the hood that you'd rather not see.:eek:
Even with the stuff I have...
I've got a 4 gauge pilar w/Autometers.
My boost gauge goes to about 35 lbs boost. Anything more than that, and you won't get as much needle movement. If you're building 30 lbs of boost, the needle won't go as far around the gauge on a 50 lbs or 60 lbs as you will with a gauge with 35 lbs boost.
:sled1
Merry Christmas to all my SDD buddies!!
BTW, I went to Papa Murphies to get our traditional Christmas Eve pizza for me & Mrs TG. Papa Murphies was swamped. Apparently I'm not the only person who sees the advantages of instead of leaving milk & cookies for Santa, leave him pizza &...
I had a great day!!
Today I had the opportunity to assist with a real world annual inspection of a flyable aircraft.
(While under close supervision), I taxied the plane out to do performance tests of the engine. Later after getting it back into the heated hanger, I helped do the...
