Spray paint in a can - Medium Wedgewood Blue Metallic

Paint Source Look for an autobody paint supply store. They can usually mix a can of spray paint for you based on your paint code for about $15. I had a local store here mix up a spray can of Dark Shadow Gray metallic to paint my front light bar and it turned out great. Costs a little more if...

    overhead console/lie-o-meter

If you search "Overhead Console" there are several posts related to this problem. However, the most common link to the fix doesn't work any more. Basically, the problem is typically one or more resistors (surface mount) that have come unsoldered due to the heat inside the unit. You can resolder...

How does this truck sound to buy? '02 7.3 80k mi rebuilt tranny

X2 on Autotrader.com. You can input your search criteria and distance from your town and it will send you email alerts as new ones pop up. I ended up buying my '05 900 miles away (2 years ago) using Autotrader and found a killer deal on a very clean truck. Happy hunting!

What was your very FIRST car?

1967 Pontiac Firebird convertible, 400 cubes, automatic, gold w/white top and side pipes that would drag every time I pulled in our dirt/gravel driveway. Picked it up for $1400 in about '77. Awesome car for a high school kid. Probably be worth some money if I'd have tucked it away for the next...

    Alternator/Battery Question

Wasn't planning on trying to get by on one battery. I've always replaced both batteries at the same time and was just using the one to start it this one time to see if the known bad one was causing the load on the alternator. It actually turned over pretty easily. I put a pair of Die Hard Gold's...

    Alternator/Battery Question

New batteries are in, and everything seems to be working. It was acting funny where I wouldn't see the elevated charging voltage, then I would, then not again. I was starting to wonder whether my voltmeter leads were flakey. I'm guessing that maybe the regulator (in the alternator) is turning...

    Alternator/Battery Question

Just getting ready to put two new batteries in. Before, I hooked up just the one good battery and started it with the bad one disconnected, still didn't see anything over the same voltage I had without the alternator running.

    Alternator/Battery Question

On my truck, it appeared I lot my alternator, voltage across the batteries (still tied together)was about 12.1, no difference engine started or not. I took the alternator off and had it tested at a starter/alternator rebuild shop and it tested good. Put it back together, still no charging...

    Help Needed Tranny Over Heated

Didn't see that you were pulling anything when if started getting hot, but an upgrade to the 6.0L trans cooler would probably help. It made a world of difference whenever I pulled my 5er up to 10K-11K here in Colorado with my old '99 7.3. Afer the upgrade, it rarely went over 190 pulling about...

Question What did you do to your truck today?

Front OEM brake pads (hate those newer clips:watchout) and air filter. Also, just hit 100K a couple weeks ago.

    4x4 not going in

Hey Dave, does the vacuum solenoid on the passenger fender affect the dash controls just like a leak would or does it only apply vacuum to the hubs when electrically turned on and not impact the dash vents? Curious if that could be the issue here. Mine had the solenoid replaced when I bought it...

    Overhead Console Repair Questions???

Clint, If you're not seeing the typical loose reistors and/or capacitors, recheck the entire circuit board area carefully under good magnification and good lighting. Make sure the ends of each component appear to be still soldered to the pad and aren't just laying on it. If you can push on the...

    Cosmetic updates w/pics

I was a electronic tech working in the PMEL lab, calibrating and repairing test equipment and flightline support gear. Spent the first couple of years at Torrejon AB, Spain and then finished up there at Barksdale. Had some good times there, used to ride the back roads with the motorcyles and did...

    Cosmetic updates w/pics

Yes, actually two trees fell on it at elk hunting camp during 60+ mph wind gusts. Luckily it didn't take out my 5er too. I was able to salvage 3 of the 5 lights and picked up two replacements to finish off the set for the '05. How do you like Bossier City? I spent my last 18 months in the...

    Leveling Kit for 05 F350

I did a 2" aluminum spacer on the bottom, no realignment and you're supposed to be able to use the stock shocks up to 2.5" lift. Worked great with no issues.

High Beam Wire Color and Location?

I think I found it on Autozone's site (C270H, LG/BK wire pin 1). See link if interested. I'll check it out in the morning. Looks like a good resource for wiring diagrams. ;tu AutoZone.com | Membership Benefits

High Beam Wire Color and Location?

Anybody know the wire color/location for the high beam down by the central junction box (fuse box) for a 2005 F350? I need this wire to tie into my relay for my long-range driving lights. Thanks.

    Ground to Fender Measurement

I've got 42 1/4" in the front and 43 1/2" in the rear. That's with 33" tires and a 2" level lift in the front. Hope that helps. On Edit - I've got front coils so may not be what you're after.
