    I read something about doing that on my generation. Had to do with tapping a couple wires under the dash. But it was for raising the idle for running a PTO. I imagine Ford has the cold idle rpm worked out already.

    Don't forget your foot is usually in it a little more to get moving when you're towing. The computer reads that and ups the pressure in the trans to keep it from slipping. And also if you're pushing the throttle more the ECU is going to wind out the RPM before shifting. Think of the difference...

    That's what I was curious about. 10th gear doesn't mean much if we don't know what the rear end has for gears. That's actually better than I thought it would be price wise.

    My quick search shows it's just the heater. If it was a 20EE then it would the NOx sensor. Or something like that. But then if you don't get into freezing weather I probably wouldn't worry about it.

    Got bit by the batteries yesterday

    I'll check those out. I picked up the cheap kind while I was at the store along with the terminal sealer. Thats the problem I had from day 1. There was always corrosion on the terminals. Thats what ended up killing the cable end. The passenger side battery was even bulging a little.

    I'd get a second opinion. I always find it odd when a shop services something, then that something starts acting up and their first suggestion is full replacement.

    Got bit by the batteries yesterday

    Ended up replacing the batteries anyway. Went to start the truck yesterday morning and all I got was the starter clicking. It starts like a champ now.

    So it looks like it wasn't the batteries. I went to pull them tonight and both positive cable ends broke. I ordered the replacements I found online. Hopefully they'll be here tomorrow.
