    got the "wrench" symbol today

Well were in the 6.4 section and the OP has a 6.4. Not really sure how this conversation pertains to the 6.0.

    got the "wrench" symbol today

There is a schrader valve for bleeding on the fuel cooler. I haven't had to use mine yet, but found out the hard way you need to cycle key 4-5 times at 30 second intervals or it will run for a few minutes and die. The 6.4 is a little more stubborn than the 6.0 in some ways.

    Question First time changing oil!!

Actually the filter for the 6.0 is the same one for the 6.4. That being said, the filter is a different animal than most. Without having a core, outer jacket, or any internal structure, this filter depends on the integrity of the vertical pleats. Some manufacturers have tried to place an...

    Question First time changing oil!!

Yep. Exactly the same as the M/C and about a buck cheaper. Only Fram I would EVER recommend.

Update Might be joining Kent on "permanent vacation"

From your posts I can only assume your a top notch mechanic. If "B" isn't an option maybe do some of your own work? I have my straight trucks serviced by a guy who is a full-time mechanic and also works at home. Or have you gone that route and it didn't work out?

    Question First time changing oil!!

I wouldn't run any filter in that unit except the M/C or the Fram. All filters are not created equal. BTW, that oil comes out in a big hurry when its hot.

Anyone running the k&n cold air intake??

I wouldn't change out that intake until the trucks warrantee expires. Try running some Diesel-kleen in the fuel, maybe 8 ounces to a tank. Don't let it idle, use your cruise, and try to keep your boost at 10 lbs. or less. Keep the tires hard as chinese arithmetic. These things all work on a 6.4.

Anyone running the k&n cold air intake??

I think the better part of the members here will say the same thing that I'm going to say: Stay away from K+N.

    coolant trouble

Egr cooler probably split. Been there, done that on my 04. Any steam visible out the tailpipe when driving, or just when sitting? Mine didn't drip at tailpipe. Is she running hot? If Blackstone shows no coolant in oil its probably the egr cooler. Might be worth deleting the egr and the cooler...

Chaulk Up One For The Good Guys.............Me !!!

Well its good you didn't get out there a few seconds sooner and shoot what appears to be a 13 year old. As far as his "parents" coming to get him, maybe a parent. MAYBE. And thats the main reason he's out peering into vehicles looking for change or cigarettes to steal. The real issue is there...

    Started school

Don't take the easy route with the CDL, get the Haz-mat and Tanker endorsements all in one shot. Those 2 endorsements can make the difference if you should need a driving job at any other place. :sweet

    A Gleam of hope...

The leak could be the egr cooler. You want to have the dealer pressure check the system before you "just decide" to do head gaskets. Which they will do anyway. May not be as bad as you think. If its gaskets, buy the studs, give them and a case of really good beer to the mechanic, and let them do...

    HELP. Tire Pressure Sensor Fix????

Go to Ford and buy 4 18" bands, have tires broke down off rims and install the bands. Re-inflate with nitrogen to the right pressure and be done with it. It won't be cheap. But its about your only option.

    comment just FWIW

I agree, JL. I've been to pretty much all of them. This is the only Ford diesel site that I've ever gotten technical knowledge from.

    Fuel Filter(s)

Be warned: the air in the system takes ALOT longer to run thru than the old 6.0 Let the ignition cycle for 3 -30 second cycles and then when it starts let it run for at least 5 minutes before driving.

    New DPF reprogram by Ford

Yep. I wanted to run a tank and hand calculate first, which I did. Mileage up 2.2 across the board, and thats on winter fuel. :D

    New DPF reprogram by Ford

I think the confusion lies in the job build numbers. I have a job 1. I can tell you this re-flash was a big improvement. My cruise control had issues, as did the trans. If this flash didn't address the issues, I would say so.

    New DPF reprogram by Ford

Read the entire letter. It states that it addresses driveability issues as well. It also states that the vehicle will no longer go into active regeneration.

    New DPF reprogram by Ford

Got her done. Better throttle response, ALOT less turbo lag, shifts firmer, cruise now holds. No more fishing for gears. No more active regeneration. Took all of 20 minutes. Mileage should go up according to tech.

    Where do I find

I found mine under the hood, zip-tied to the bumper on the inside of the bumper. Its black and rubber, looks like a temp sensor. Look a little more. The top ten list was for free winter covers for the grill. It might be there.

Question seat belt bell. ( dinger )

X2. The instructions are a little different from the 99-07's, though. Its in the index under "Belt-Minder" and then you follow that section to "Disable".

    New DPF reprogram by Ford

Could have something to do with sloppy shifts, or the delayed shift into 5th that some are having troubles with. Mine will sometimes stay in 4th to 50-52 mph. And on a slow down-hill you hit the throttle and it will slam into gear. :rant The recall for the dpf [or mechanical sphincter] is...
