    Rear ends are set up dry. (no oil) When you crush the sleeve.(tighten the pinion nut) You want like 25 inch pound rotation. Everyone replaces pinion seals, I always counted threads, marked the nut, and yoke. Then I would give it a little more. No problems.

    That is way Ford ran 2 turbo's on the 6.4, One small to get it to move, and then the bigger one with the VGT. I agree the 6.0 run's better. Maybe to much exhuast restriction in the 6.4.

    No after it warms up, and you drive it. It will be fine. Oil even bad oil won't cause what your talking about. If you buy a good used one. Buy the o-ring kit for the 3 fittings, so you don't have to worry about oil leaks.

    Check codes ? early 6.0 put the ICP sensor under the turbo. They went out a lot. Look under the truck, drivers side, by the bell housing. Do you see oil leaking from the top ?

    engine code

    I don't know the history on the truck. Years ago they had a recall for that. It would be worth it to check the VIN # for recalls. If it's had that, 9 out of 10 it's the EGR valve. Clean and recheck.

    I had a 1964 4x4. Same bed was told by lot's of old timers from Ford. (back in the early 90's) That they had so many earlier body style beds, that they used them on the 4x4. Very nice work.

    Intermittent problems can be tough sometimes. I wouln't ever just replace parts unless I now what was going on. If it is intermittent keep a log, with when it happend, hot or cold, and it would make it easier if you could make it happen.

    I've never heard of Sea Foam. So the truck in the stock setting, going down the road has a flutter ? is that like a miss, or surge ? The ICP is on top of the cylinder head, drivers front. I've had Fuel pedals go bad at only cruise. (there is no cable it sends a reading to the computer 0-5 volts)...

    They only ran the Dual Mass Flywheel from 1994. (DI first Power Stroke) Untill 1997. All Super Duty trucks are a solid flywheel. As for the clutch let's wait and see what everyone else thinks. Your running a lot of HP.
