ok so you guys were right about power adders and a stock clutch didnt have my chip in for a week and smoke my clutch i havent tore it down yet but i have done a bit of price checking. i have a question will my truck have a solid flywheel or a dual mass one i am getting conflicting reports from the parts stores. also how do the valair clutches hold up to say a luk or napa brand or some of the other parts houses. i dont want to go to the extreme of a south bend.

They only ran the Dual Mass Flywheel from 1994. (DI first Power Stroke) Untill 1997. All Super Duty trucks are a solid flywheel. As for the clutch let's wait and see what everyone else thinks. Your running a lot of HP.

If you ever get the opportunity to see a Luk/Cleavland/Napa or other clutch assembly.. laid out on a bench.. side by side.. with the Ford clutch.. yul see & know why the OEM one went south. (especially the throwout bearing)Apples & Oranges.

I went with the Whole 9 Yards (Luk). Replaced everything to do with the clutch, flywheel'n all.

An OBTW ? When/if you do a clutch.. Check the Tranny input bearing/seal for any play, seems when that "light weight" OEM throw-out bearing is on it's way out.. it likes to take the tranny input bearing.. with it.. sometimes ?
