    starting issues....

John, batteries cause more problems, in diesels, than any other item. If in doubt, get your batteries LOAD TESTED at a good auto parts store.

    Question Question

Diesel engines do NOT produce vacuum, like a gasoline engine. There must be a vacuum pump to get vacuum. The only thing vacuum does on these trucks is assist the brakes and operate the heater/ A.C. doors to direct the airflow. You can get a vacuum gauge at Autometer.com or any other gauge...

    Fuel pressure decrease wot

Not really. You have maximum flow at WOT and that will cause the pressure to drop. Fuel pressure may come up a bit as RPMs increase.

    EGR problems at 60k?

You have a miss understanding of diesel trucks and engines. They are NOT grocery getters. They do not like short trips. and the love getting driven like you stole them. Take it out on the highway and get on it hard! Get it up to operating temperature. Do this once a week or more and this...

Yes the FICM will die in these trucks. I had mine go out at about 88,000 miles. You can have it rebuilt or get a new one form Ford for about $300. I had to get a new one but if you have the time get it rebuilt. http://ficmrepair.com/

    Help Needed Warn Hubs

What ever you can do to make it work is how "Jeepers" do it. I did a lot of that in my earlier days. It doesn't have to be pretty but it does have to work! :)

    Start but dies

Get it scanned by a good mechanic - rule #1. This will tell you what the computer thinks is wrong and you can go from there. If you plan of buying a scanner get one that can read CAN or it won't see anything. It is OBDII including CAN.

    Question '01 SD 7.3 for '96 7.3 CCSB

Go look at the OBS and you will see more things that you need to spend money on. I have had trucks since I was just a little older than you and I know you want EVERYTHING now. Common sense says to spend the money up front and be done with it. IF you are looking for a project, then you can...

    Question Paint

Sand it with 220 sanding discs and a DA (Duel Action) Sander. Go over the entire hood and look for very small scratches and dimples. Fill them and shoot primer ion each stop. Sand again and shoot color. I am not a body man, but I learned from a great one. RIP Mark.

    No start

We are missing a lot of important information. What truck are you referring to? Year, Model, Engine and Tranny would be a nice start. Put this information in your signature so we don't have to keep asking. Click on your user name in the top right hand line and go to Signature.
