    DIY Intake failed State Inspection

This is the biggest load of crap I've heard of in a long time! Up until just a few years ago, I used to be a certified state inspector for safeties and emissions, and I've never heard of anything like this. I know however, that the regs in utah state that the inspector has final word on...

    Leaking coolant...kind of strange...

Sorry to be the bearer of potentialy bad news, but have you looked at the freeze plugs in the side of the block? Their called freeze plugs for a reason, to "pop" out when the coolant freezes to keep the block from cracking. If the radiator hose popped off the engine when it froze, there's a...

    Help Needed Slip Joint Greasing

Not surprising that it was dry, ford doesn't "lube" it from the factory. They "dip" the splined end of the shaft into a teflon like liquid, and let it dry before assembly. Stupid not to put a grease zerk on the spilnes, but then it is fomoco. Seen many of these wear all the coating off and...

    Missing/no power

Did we ever clear up the low voltage problem at the batt side of the gpr? If you don't have the same voltage at this terminal, as the batts do, you have a voltage "drop" problem. YOu have to have 12.5 volts in the batts sitting there not running, and you have to have the same at the solenoid...

    multiple transmissions?

Mine's an 18 speed. :innocent. What kinda truck you driving? Those are some looooow gears, if you've got anything smaller than 40 inch tires. Probably be cheaper to change the gear sets, than add an overdrive unit?

    Question oil smell in cab

Sounds like a leaking valve cover gasket, or something similar. If the valve cover gaskets leak, the oil goes right down on the exhaust manifolds, causing the burnt oil smell. Take the truck to a car wash and hose everything off on that right side and see if you can spot where the oil is...

how do i turn off my headlights during darkness hours?

Seems he did Daveben, respectively. I'm not familiar with the super duty exactly, but I know that ford in general, has some pretty weird combinations to turn off the daytime running lights. I have a friend that owns a explorer that had to use the buttons on the rear view mirror in some pattern...

    Missing/no power

Have you checked the cable condition, and the ground connection at the block and frame? I've seen the corrosion travel 3-4 inches up the cables underneath the insulation. It sounds like a voltage drop situation between the batteries and the engine controls. The starter sounds good right...

    6 oh discussion

So let me see if I get this right. If a guy services the egr regularly, and blows the cobwebs out once in a while, keeps the motor stock w/no tunes or power building parts, and uses the truck like it's meant to be used(towing, long trips, etc) then it's pretty trouble free? Can you also delete...

    6 oh discussion

So guys, I have a brother in law who is searching for a new truck. He's finding quite a few 6 liters for sale, seemingly in good shape. Me being a 7.3 owner,I don't know all the ins and outs of these motors. What are the most common problems besides head gaskets with these trucks. What would...

Are you off the fuel and coasting? Sounds perfectly normal to me. I've never tried this myself, I always stop to shift the t-case. Don't forget to try putting the zf in neutral as well. High five on the 6spd!

    battery light

Like JL said, something has to be shorting it to ground in the system, diodes can do this in the alt itself. It used to be very common, hence the old style tester working to detect this better?jmo
