    No 4x4 light

I just had another thought, it may be way off, but i seem to remember a relay in the system that operates the motor. Do u see one in the diagram? I wanna say you turn the switch on to close the relay, then the relay sends batt voltage to the motor. I could be smoking, but I'm grasping at...

    No 4x4 light

Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to the computer, I don't know if this will even help. I want to say, that the 4x4 lights don not self check with the others on startup, but I'm not sure and I'm not near my truck to look for myself. I was understanding that the lights turn on only after...

    Starting problem

You don't want to find out what happens when the tip breaks off.......... That's why we stress changing them early and often to keep from having that problem. ALL glow plugs can break off if they are left in to long, but the motorcraft are rumored to be heavy duty.

    Vibration noise

The axle u joint should have no play whatsoever, and the rubbing noise could be the wheel bearing. I would bet you have a bad wheel bearing, and need new axle joints as well. I did mine in the garage at home, when i did the ball joints, all i can say is make sure you have a beefy vice. Mine...

    Smokey Cold starts

I would wager a small bet that the "plugs" are shot. hopefuly they will come out easy. Good luck. I know my truck starts after just a couple seconds of cranking here in Ut. And everybody knows we get a little snow here! It was down in the teens the other day when i was home, and it strated...

    No 4x4 light

I am not certain on the sd version, but the explorers and rangers had the shaft sticking out of the case behind the motor with a seal to keep the fluids in and the dirt out. you could change it without getting your hands more than dusty. i would like to think yours would be similar. Can you...

    Hissing dropping pressure when cold

X2 Sure sounds like a loose/torn ic boot leak if it's not the ebpv. Just unhook the ebpv connector and see if it changes anything.

    Starting problem

If it were me, i would put some glow plugs in it also. If you don't know when they were done last, they may be overdue. You don't wanna go to long or you won't be able to get them out without braking the tips off in the cylinder. That equals a baaaad day wrenching!

    lifts and towing

Just watch the frontend parts closely. Wheel bearing assemblies, and ball joints are common tire wear culprits too. Bottom line is, take an offensive approach to maintenance instead of defensive, get under the truck once in a while and get you're hands dirty. You'll be alot more aware of...

    Pontiac's Obituary

Agreed Zmann, this powerstroke is only the third ford I've ever owned. But my wife will tell ya I've owned alot of vehicles over the years. Chevy is my first love, my wife is still driving our tahoe. I bought this latest Ford out of necessity more than want, but I'm learning to love the roomy...

    New engine oil change intervals?

You may be right Melmount 'bout the 6.4, i personally don't know. I was only speaking of the 7.3 that stroked68 drives. Guess it could be different for those folks who still have a payment on their truck! But as far as I'm concerned, the 7.3, n the 6.0-no are a no brainer.

    New engine oil change intervals?

Don't forget the abuse the hpop and injectors put the oil through, it was my understanding that the high pressure required to fire the injectors is the hardest thing on the oil. Seems that this style of engine just isn't one to extend oil change intervals on. Maybe the old 6.9-7.3l non-turbo...

    new to 7.3L with 6spd

Yes welcome, Good to have another gear jammer in the mix! The mileage seems awesome on that truck, should last a loooooong time.

    lifts and towing

Best way to get rid of cupping is to rotate the tires regularly. In the powerstroke's case, every oil change, depending on you're oil change interval. Don't forget alignments, and proper air pressure either. It's not so much the tire, as the maintenance. (or lack thereof!) Proper gearing is...

    Oil cooler fix/oil filter stuck

X2, what Joe says! PB blaster is good stuff. To clarify, you want the wrench just under the "crimp" on the top of the filter. As far as you can go without touching the oil cooler adaptor. The filter is much less crushable there

F350 - Loud banging from underneath

Also check the shocks as well, if their leaking at all, they need to be replaced. Check them for tightness as well. Give the bolts a little "squeeze" with a wrench, top and bottom. The bushings tend to shrink over time and may need to be replaced. Don't forget the track bar while you're...

    Question Pop noise

Don't overlook the trans/motor mounts, sounds like you might have one o' them broken if the springs aren't the culprit.

    6spd leaking

X2 on what Dave says, if the clutch releases high, it's because the clutch disc is wore out. It's the first sign of a clutch on the way out.
