batteries dead after sitting 2 weeks with newer diehard platnums

My battery drain is still happening, finally I'm attemping to fix it. I looked up videos on youtube, they say to put the multimeter between the NEG battery post and NEG battery cable and set it to milliamps. 50 and below milliamps is acceptable. While the meter is hooked up start pulling fuses...

batteries dead after sitting 2 weeks with newer diehard platnums

I'd guess all those things plus colder weather could lead to my problem. I'm sure these newer vehicles have a larger miliamp draw even if nothing is wrong compared to vehicles from the 80s (which is what I'm used to). Power programers, Power heated seats, power peddles, mirrors, windows, locks...

batteries dead after sitting 2 weeks with newer diehard platnums

irace: When I first got truck last year the batteries were mismatched, they went dead and one froze after sitting 2-3 weeks in cold MN winter. A couple months later I replaced both at the same time with die hard platnums and thats whats currently in truck. They had been fine up until this point...

batteries dead after sitting 2 weeks with newer diehard platnums

Will have to run into town and have NAPA load test them, closest sears that sells diehard is 100 miles away. About the testing to see if I can hear water in them...I don't know if these batteries are so full of water that there is no sloshing room, was hoping someone with platnums could do...

batteries dead after sitting 2 weeks with newer diehard platnums

Any advice on how to find the problem? Thought the test I did with the multimeter would show a abnormal draw, unless the draw gets worse after it sits a couple hours/days. May have to leave a meter hooked up for a days at a time and see if the draw gets worse. I had a alt. in a small car...

batteries dead after sitting 2 weeks with newer diehard platnums

How did you trace it to the AIH solenoid? The platnum batteries have been in truck for 8-10 months. I wish my bats would drain in 15 min. Waiting 3 weeks before they go dead makes it hard to troubleshoot.

batteries dead after sitting 2 weeks with newer diehard platnums

connections at the battery are very clean and very well greased. They came greased from the guy I bought it from which makes me think he had a similar problem... maybe the reason truck was sold. Maybe one of the platnums went bad in the last couple weeks. I'll have to find a load tester and see...

batteries dead after sitting 2 weeks with newer diehard platnums

2002 F250 7.3 auto 121k miles, edge evolution, 4" exhaust, AIS intake A little history, bought truck almost a year ago in the middle of winter. Came with one new napa battery and a motorcraft (I'm assuming the original). Truck only gets driven on weekends, if that. If it got drove weekly it...

how does the front license plate mount?

Maybe didn't give enough info. I was able to find the license plate and the black plastic thing its mounted in laying right in the road a hour later, no damage to it at all. So all I need to know is how the original black plastic is held onto the bumper. I could bolt it easily enough, but the...

how does the front license plate mount?

My 4 holes are round. Can you guys with front plates look under them and see if there are 4 screws or just the push dart style.

how does the front license plate mount?

Hit a partridge today, bird got stuck in the coolers between the fog lights and license plate and the plastic thing the plate mounts in flew up and over the hood. I see 4 holes but just need to know what kind of bolts/screws/push dart things held the black plastic plate holder to the bumper?

    Clunk noise in front end

I can visably see the bushings on my sway bar where it attaches to the front axle are bad. I think they are blue in color....would that be original? Where does everyone suggest buying them from? Are the stock ones poly or rubber? If rubber are poly ones available anywhere?

    RPM drop into overdrive

Anyone know a test to do to make the converter unlock in OD? I've tried just letting off the throttle and pushing it again, still no RPM change, also tried touching the brakes a bit while giving it throttle and no rpm change. It seems like its working, as it runs 1500-1600rpm at 55mph 265 tires...

    smaller mirrors vs bigger ones

I am still looking, so please PM me the info. My recent find was a '02 f250 for $17k with 115k miles, it is a short box though which is what may keep me from buying it, lariat, nice maroon/red color with grey on the bottom. Never had a 5th wheel, edge programer, and its around 500 miles from me.

    smaller mirrors vs bigger ones

Found another truck and would like opinions on it. Sure seems like no one can keep these things stock. Its a '03 f250 7.3 96k miles, 4-6" lift, crew, long, SRW. Rust and dents on the passenger side box, afe intake. Thats about all I know about it. Anything look aftermarket, wrong, or out of...

    smaller mirrors vs bigger ones

Probably would be willing to go quite a ways for a perfect deal, such as texas, washington state. Problem with going far away is that it takes time to set up a trip, time in which truck may sell. Buying a truck around here chances are its been exposed to salt its whole life and is just about...

    smaller mirrors vs bigger ones

irace was right. Got there and there were dents that the pictures didn't show, cracked windsheild, took it for a test drive and it pulled to the left, even after an alignment, got back and after about 3 mintues being parked engine not running there was a puddle of oil or fuel under truck about 4...

    smaller mirrors vs bigger ones

Dealer says its an aftermarket turbo. Not sure at this point if thats a good or bad thing, sorta wish it was stock being as it has low miles. Here is some info from the oasis report. 4-08 perform recall 07s57 and replaced sensor added dielectric grease 4-08 oil leek onto ground- verified...

    smaller mirrors vs bigger ones

Thanks for the info, if you guys can provide more on what maybe not stock under the hood that would be great. I agree its a high price but it seems like if you have a 7.3 under 100k mi. and around $20k it will sell, maybe the manual tranny will deter people away from this one. I live over 5...

    smaller mirrors vs bigger ones

Here is the truck I'm looking at. 02 86k miles, manual tranny. 7.3. Small mirrors (darn), Looks pretty basic as in no power seats, no power peddles, Maybe chipped at one time? Notice the switch to the left of the steering wheel and a spot where a switch used to be to the right of the wheel...

    smaller mirrors vs bigger ones

If it came with the small mirrors does it maybe mean that it doesn't have a tow package or isn't rated for as much weight? A few more questions... I see some with a turn switch for the 4wd engage, and others (not many) have the standard shifter on the floor. Whats the story there? I am...

    smaller mirrors vs bigger ones

As my search for a '02/3 crew cab 7.3 continues I notice different mirrors. Why are 1 tons that you'd guess would be pulling a trailer have the smaller mirrors? Also just came accross a picture of a dually with the small mirrors, can you even see past the dually fender with them? Is one or...
