Hit a partridge today, bird got stuck in the coolers between the fog lights and license plate and the plastic thing the plate mounts in flew up and over the hood. I see 4 holes but just need to know what kind of bolts/screws/push dart things held the black plastic plate holder to the bumper?

My truck did not come with a front mount plate. I bought the holder and just used what ever I had around the garage, nuts, bolts, washers, to make it fit. Stayed that way for years, until I decided to take it off for better air flow.

As Zmann said, there are a couple of plastic square inserts that push into the bumper and act as nuts for the bolts holding on the plate.

My 4 holes are round. Can you guys with front plates look under them and see if there are 4 screws or just the push dart style.

Maybe didn't give enough info. I was able to find the license plate and the black plastic thing its mounted in laying right in the road a hour later, no damage to it at all. So all I need to know is how the original black plastic is held onto the bumper. I could bolt it easily enough, but the way it flew off this time was nice, if it was bolted somthing would have broke.

I used brass carriage-head bolts from the back side and a deep socket and a couple of nuts to hold 'em down. The snap caps died a slow death in the 2 years after I mounted it, when I moved to a state that requires a front plate...take your chances with running it over the next time or breaking it from the impact. Your call.
