Winter is coming...

With the colder weather comes the dreaded "hard start" or the "no start" is bound to show up. We get a lot of "My truck won't start and I replaced the batteries recently". To most here "recently" means within the past 10 years. To me it means within the past three years. Batteries wear out and can no longer hold a good charge. With good batteries comes checking ALL of your cables to make sure they are clean (No green stuff). What the cables are connected to needs to be clean with metal showing. Get on top of this BEFORE it gets cold.

And while yer at it.. it's also that time.. to be checking ALL yer tire pressures, ALL the fluid levels, ALL the wiper blades.. on ALL yer stuff. (Spares too)

Better to check it ALL now.. than get that "Deer In The Headlights" look, on a rainy/snowy night when the wind is blowing 40 knots.

I might add that I just did this myself and both of my battery posts had green copper oxide on them. I mixture of baking soda and water took care of that. I cleaned the cables and posts and now the truck starts great!

and check the brake caliper pins that stick if they get corroded...at least on my old truck...and the 4wd if you haven't used it...

These are great recommendations guys! The batteries on mine need to be cleaned and driverside wiper are on the list. The caliper pins were a big problem on my 7.3 for sure!

November 29. 55 degrees here in central ILL...my folks in northern Minnesota already saw 28-32" before t-day, but not around here!!!

But, it's coming...right?

I was down in Texas for Thanksgiving, had the Fifth wheel parked in my friends yard, just camping out and having a good time.
Well everyone took off and we were to come along in a few minutes. Wife and I got into the truck and it wouldn't start. Had to
pull a battery off of the RV to jump start it. Truck has run fine ever sense, I did do a Big Joe battery cleaning the next day.
The only thing that I can come up with is that the dash cam was left on, it is suppose to shut off after five minutes, and it didn't.
Never had any ideal it would pull that much power.
