Hi. Does anyone know if the SuperDuty logo on the top of the front windshield causes any interference with radar detectors??? In the past, some did. Thanks to anyone who could help.

The "superduty" logo on the windshield is not a film...rather its
SILK SCREENED "paint" (dots to be precise)....its also refered to as
the "third visor" (by glass companies)
the biggest problem i had w/ the logo was that it prevented any
kind of suction cup from sticking to it.
i would expect the logo (because the dots/paint are opaque)
to reduce the effective range of any detector...that said i did not
notice any discernable reduction in performance from my valentine one.
cheap bastard that i can be, when my windshield required replacing
(rock chip) i went w/ a windshield that did NOT have the "third visor"
(aka silk screened superduty logo)

I wouldn't put it up top. I've got the Passport Escort 8500 and it seems the the radar in some areas leave no warning. I"m not talking about laser either. You see the car in the distance and all of a sudden BAM he's got a direct hit on you. That being said, I want the clearest line of sight. I have mine directly under the rear view mirror.
the highest position on the wind shield SHOULD provide the best performance,
'specially when approaching a HILL (where a cop may be just over the
crest of the hill)
LI what you may be encountering is called INSTANT ON or PULSE radar...
you have to remember what youre dealing w/ here...its a RADAR detector
NOT a cop detector.
better performing radar detectors (like the Valentine One) will provide
you w/ the greatest amount of warning...*IF* the cop had the radar beam
ON...

FWIW,
My Escort 8500 X50 is mounted just left of the mirror, at the very top. A great location out of view, the cable just hangs over the mirror, (very handy since my weather changes hourly here and I find it on occasion disconnected from the wind shield, keeps it from falling 2.5 feet). I have had escorts since they came to be, (still have the original escort in a box, a classic). Love the thing. Have always been happy with it. As a matter of fact have not been tagged since High School (500 hp 1971 Trans Am, My Bad). IMO, Valentine is very overrated, (brother has one, false alarms all the time, he has been pulled over several time because he gets tired of them and gets tagged, I have not had that problem).
Regardless, just mount it left of the visor, high on the windshield, best of both worlds.

why not hide the cord in the head liner too ? much cleaner install &
it would STILL prevent the detector from falling (done right).
you MIGHT be able to use a visor clip & insert the visor mount
between the headliner...its how i had my V1 mounted for a LONG
time.
hide that cord if you can...it makes for a cleaner looking install &
the thieves in the parking lot wont see the cord thinking they can
make 20 bucks for their next hit/rock of crack !
its troubling to go thru parking lots seeing cords hanging and nice
portable (expensive) gps units stuck on the dash (in plain view)...
its an invite to have someone break in and steal stuff !
as for the v1....once you encounter MULTIPLE radar signals or one
coming up from behind you WONT think the V1 is over rated.
as for the false alarms...sounds like some programing needs to be done
to your brothers unit....remember the reason the Valentine One is rated
#1 (consistantly) over other detectors...is be cause it has better RANGE
and can pick up RADAR at a greater distance (an EXTREAMLY BENEFICAL
THING WHEN COPS RUN Instant-On/Pulse or hide over hills, or around turns)
consider THIS...its a RADAR detector...when it beeps its FOUND
radar...I would be MORE concerned about a detector that WASNT
ALERTING ME TO RADAR over one that IS...its unfortunate that cops
dont use the SAME radar everywhere (or that door openers for stores

As I SAID. I have been very HAPPY with my ESCORT. It has not missed ANY police OFFICIALS, even the ones with INSTANT on RADAR. The Escort is a very GOOD detector as has been shown in multiple TESTS.
Also,
If you go to their website, there is a cord available to "wire it i," which is a good idea, and a visor clip.
The reason I do not "wire it in" in my case, is that I move it from vehicle to vehicle. When I decide to buy the new escort for myself, I will probably wire that one in and keep this one for Rach.
