Question Will 2001 F350 7.3 work in 2000?

I own a 2000 F350 7.3 Crewcab and I am going to replace the motor. I have a line on a brand new motor but when I went and looked at it the sticker on the valve cover says 2001. Will a 2001 work in my 2000 and what changes might i need to make?

yeah, should work. If anything, it's a difference in the PCM I would think. Probably somebody around here has done it.

There won't be a big enough difference to make one.

The short answer is "yes", you can use a 2001 engine.

As springer said, yes, you can do it, but to answer your question, yes, I believe that the computer can be re-flashed/burned for different year. Good luck and hope it works out for ya. Let us know if we can help ya if anything else comes up.

Added Bonus... keep your old one ... if you can as most likely it has forged Rods.... if its a re-manned 01 block... could be hit or miss on the rods...
