I agree with the others about Stihl. A few years ago, I got a John Deere (which I believe is made by the "new" Homelite). It's not all that good, the chain keeps slipping off the bar. I got it at Home Depot but my next saw will probably be a Stihl from a Stihl dealer. I had one of their weed trimmers that lasted about 15 years.

I haven't had alot of luck with Stihl. I have 1 old saw that was my dad's that still runs. Its a Jonsered. Don't even know if they still are in existance, but that saw has been thru hell and still comes back for more. My old Stihl is still in use, but my newer 1 just seems cheap and underpowered. :dunno

You bought one thats too small then. My Stihl will blow through a log like you couldn't imagine! Sounds like you just have a junk chain.

I got a new Stihl a few years ago and could not be happier. In the past I had a couple different Homelites but they didn't work anything like my new Stihl.

My old Stihl bucket saw works great. I bought a Stihl Farm Boss a few years back and its useless. I'm not saying they don't offer a good product. Just going by my experience. Your results may vary, as they say.
