I am thinking that all the weather reports might come from one central source like the national weather service and if so they will all be wrong:dunno
I just read this. I am about 99% sure that the NOAA site I linked is this mythical beast you describe. If you look into the Observations links, you can see where each observation post in your area typed a breif on what the weather is like, where it is headed, and what the radar says is coming.

There is a lot of info there, and the guys at the posts will even start into their percentage sureties of their forecasts. That is pretty helpful, they say "I have no clue what is about to happen, but here is a guess" and you know where you stand witht he forecast. Occasionally, one will say "I'm pretty sure that this is going to be X" and you can generally hang your hat on that, since they won't give any surety unless they are pretty sure.

For instance, this link here http://www.arh.noaa.gov/wmofcst.php?wmo=FXAK69PAFG&type=public talks about your area, Crumm, and gives all of the descrepancies in all the models that they are running, and therefore their basic percent surety that their forecast is accurate.

The first paragraph here states that all of the models show a low pressure system moving in, but that a couple of them disagree as to where it is going to go. They say that this discrepancy will mostly effect the wind, but you get the point.

You can see that they describe their decisions to do things in pretty great detail, and you can follow links to get really crazy about it, but I think these are the weather geeks that pretty much decide what gets forecast and what does not.

(To follow this link, scroll down on the first page I linked and click "Forecast Discussion" in the left column....)

I use intellicast.com. They have nice satellite shots and seem to be a bit ahead of NOAA but they are still usually wrong.

We all just live in the wrong place, the weatherman in Vegas says sunny and 110 degrees every day and he is right 98% of the time.
