Hey this is probably stupid but I am dumb when it comes to truck parts. I have a 2000 F-350 7.3L 4x4 Lariat and I have had a lot of vibrating coming form the front that feels like you turned down a gravel road really fast. my dad said that it sounds like wheel bearings. I said great what do I do and he said to find the parts aka get a wheel bearing kit or a hub kit. Does anyone know what parts to get and are there any recommendations? Thanks a lot!

Unfortunantly you don't have a choice. The wheel bearings are non-serviceable. Ya gotta buy the whole hub.

Last I heard they were $300-$400 each. I can't find the article I had book marked on replacing them. Maybe someone else has one they can post.

I appreciate your help.. I just called Advance Auto and it is $294 but another stupid question is how do you know if you have four wheel or two wheel anti lock brakes?

that unit looks great but like you said it is pricey. Do these hubs wear out all the time on these trucks? $300 every time seems kind of crazy.

When you've got a big, heavy truck running on large tires, that does accelerate hub wear. IMO, If you're going to be that far into things, get the Dynatrac kit and do it up right so you don't have to deal with changing bearings again, just service and re-grease the ones you've got.

Another point to consider; 1900 bucks will replace a lot of bearing/hubs at 300 each. I know it is not what you want to hear, but that is what you have.

Dave - I spent a day trying to hammer them apart.

$300 will fix it in your own driveway. But if you're a long ways from home, it'll cost a LOT more than that.

There was a fellow over at TDS who related his experience where that happened to him. When the bearing hub went, it took out his rotor and caliper also. Add to that the tow, several days waiting in a hotel, meals and the hourly labor rates and parts prices at your typical stealership. When all was said and done, I think he said it was over $1500 anyhow.

That's why I went with the Dynatrac kit. I traveled A LOT with my old job. It's a given that sooner or later something will break. I would have considered myself lucky if it broke while at home vs 1,000 miles from home. For me the insurance and peace of mind the Dynatrac conversion gave me was more than worth the price.
