Hello,
New here.
I have a 99 7.3. It began making a strange chime noise yesturday. Here is how it happens, turn the key to run, it makes a low pitched chime. (normal) Then wait about 30-45 secs and it does the same pitched chime, but shorter 4-5 times in a row then stops for about 5 secs and does it again. Does the same thing regardless of temp, motor on or off, rolling or stopped.

Any help is appreciated.

it's either the seatbelt warning or the "I SAID take your keys" warning

Is your 'air bag' light on? My truck made the same chime noise. I changed the air bag fuses and it stopped BUT the air bag light is still on. I'm going to chang out the air bag 'off/on' key in the dash ASAP to shut the light off.
You can always turn the radio up if all else fails...
All of the warning chimes, lights and buzzers that vehicles have today are really not needed IMHO. Just another way for 'big brother' to 'take care of you' so you don't have to take the responsibility of taking care of yourself.

Thanks for the input,
I dropped it off at a local shop. The comp said something to the effect of a fault on the positive side of the airbag system. Now that someone mentioned a fuse I am going to check them. Bottomline, the noise really doesn't bother me that much and I don't really care that much about the airbag.
Again thanks
